Escape to your own private Colorado retreat, nestled in the rocks and just minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park. This unique property includes both a cozy cabin and a charming treehouse, making it the perfect winter getaway for couples, families, or anyone craving a peaceful mountain escape while avoiding the ski crowds. The Alpine Escape has a Hot Tub with heat tracks mats, a fireplace, & fire pit. It is a modern cabin nestled in the rocks with all the comforts of home. All newer furniture and bedding (comfy mattresses and pillows). You can sit on the front or back deck of the house and hear the sounds of the Middle St Vrain River down below. The kitchen is well equipped with all the essentials you might need. We have some really cool yard games (giant connect four, plastic axe throwing, etc.), board games, a dart board, a foosball table, an arcade game, and good Wi-Fi for streaming or working remotely. Main bedroom is large with a queen size bed with wood burning fireplace and seating, smart tv, walk in closet with light up makeup vanity, and access to a private back patio. Bring your own firewood during the winter months if you would like to use the wood burning fireplace. Second sleeping area is a loft overlooking the living room with a queen bed and a large smart tv. The cabin is located on Riverside Drive in South St. Vrain Canyon and accessible via County maintained paved roads that are plowed regularly during the winter. It is approximately 15 minutes from downtown Lyons, 15 minutes to Allenspark, 30 minutes to Estes Park, 30 minutes to Boulder or Longmont, and 45 minutes to Eldora Ski area. It is also within a 15 minute drive to a very cute little town with a country store for essentials such as milk and eggs, gas, a couple restaurants, a liquor store, and a spring to refill water containers for free. We are near the Middle St. Vrain River with great fishing, hiking trails, off-roading trails, biking, etc. all close by. The town of Lyons is very cute with restaurants, ice cream shop, and lots of things to do throughout the year such as a huge blue grass music festival during the summer, tubing on the river, and a parade of lights in December. If you have any special requests just let us know and we will do our best to accommodate. A four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive is required from December through March in case of a heavy snow during your stay. No pets other than max of 2 dogs. Many guests enjoy the ability to be all together but also to have the separate spaces that the house affords. The house is a half-mile walk to stables and a small grocery store at Meeker Park Lodge. In summer, the house is an easy drive to many National Park trails, although there are also many trails and easy walks that only require stepping outside the house. In fall, it is a great place to view the autumn foliage and in winter the area offers fantastic snow-shoeing. We are also about 45 minutes from the Eldora Ski area where all the Boulder regulars choose to ski.Many guests enjoy the easy access to Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park but love the quiet that comes from being away from both. Located near both the Wild Basin Entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park and Long's Peak trail head, this cabin is ideally suited to anyone looking for a base for hiking, riding, climbing, hunting or just lazing and star gazing. The first floor includes a combined kitchen, dining room and living room, as well as two bedrooms and bath. Upstairs is a large loft overlooking the living room that most guests use as the master bedroom because of its large windows, the king size bed and it's stunning views of Mt. Meeker. The house sits on an acre and a half lot. It is adjacent to Ponderosa Lodge (Property # 803298) which we often rent in tandem (it is about 100 yards down hill) and which can be accessed by a path. Many families have rented both houses together for family reunions and weddings. We bought the house in 2001, although Susie had hoped to purchase it since first setting foot in in 1967, when her parents brought the family to meet the builder before purchasing the house down the hill. There has always been something very special about this cabin. It feels isolated while still being close to amenities. Its an easy 15 minute drive to Estes, 45 minutes to Boulder, and 5 minutes to the booming metropolis of Allenspark (population 250!). The Meeker Park Lodge Livery is a short walk and in summer the lodge has a small grocery store for last minute items. We are surrounded by Rocky Mountain National Park and Roosevelt National Forest so there is hiking in virtually every direction, from easy strolls to the trail head for one of Colorado's magnificent 14'ers. The Long's Peak trail head is just a brief drive. Susie's family started coming out to this area in 1955 and have enjoyed the wonders of this area in every season. The abundance of wildlife (moose, elk, mule deer, bobcats, hawks, owls, chipmunks, squirrels, seen them all!) can be enjoyed from the deck. The house is fully furnished and includes satellite and WiFi, a flat screen TV, DVD, games, books and a welcoming wood burning stove in the living room. We’ve recently put in a new king size mattress and have made some other upgrades. Its a great house. It has high-speed internet, off-street parking, mature fruiting apple and apricot trees, a small lawn and garden, and a stone patio and outdoor dining area.You'll have the 350 square foot cabin and its private yard to yourself. It's situated on a quiet, paved road with little traffic and is part of a larger property with a single family home in full-time residence with two kids. (The main house and one neighboring house are approximately 100 yards away.) A south-facing window seat is always the favorite spot to read or watch wildlife, and the open floor plan includes comfortable chairs, a dining table with chairs, and a fully equipped kitchen. The bedroom is quiet and cozy and has ample storage space. The bathroom includes tub and shower. The outdoor dining table with umbrella, grill, and outdoor seating overlook the property and are delightful for outdoor meals and entertaining.Guest accessThe cabin is easily accessible from Boulder via paved roads. One parking space is provided in front of it. AWD or 4WD is not necessary most of the year, but in the winter, if snow comes down, it is recommended to get up and down the mountain roads safely.Other things to note:The cabin has high-speed internet and cell service, depending on your carrier (AT&T seems to work best up here.) The WiFi is fast, and to use your cell phone for phone calls/texts, simply turn on “Wi-Fi calling”. Please note that there is no AC or TV. It’s a 5-minute drive to Betasso Mountain Preserve, a Boulder County-maintained trail system for running and biking with 3-mile and 7-mile loops. In the winter you’re about 30 minutes from skiing at Eldora Resort. Ski or snowboard the Alpine slopes, snowshoe or cross country the Nordic area. A great getaway from the crowded I-70 ski areas!- Indian Peaks Wilderness Area is a 15 minute drive west. 76,000 acres of untamed wilderness. Access the Colorado back country up to and over the Continental Divide. No motor vehicles or bikes allowed, a true Rocky mountain experience! Winter access not for the faint of heart:) but rewarding to say the least.- Mud Lake/Caribou Ranch Open Space trail systems are within walking distance. A wonderful system of loops and some of the most level trails you'll find in the Rockies. Enjoy hiking, biking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Ice skating is allowed on Mud Lake. Wildlife is abundant, moose, elk, deer, and fox are all common sights to the attentive hiker. Get lucky and spy a bobcat, lynx, bear or mountain lion!- 30 minute drive South to the casino towns of Central City and Blackhawk- RTD bus Park and Ride is 1/4 mile away. Access to Boulder, Denver and Eldora Mountain Resort! It's a downhill, under 10 minute walk from the apt to town. You need not walk along the highway, there is a shortcut path by the SE corner of the Community Center parking lot. Plan a little longer time walking UPHILL from town or the RTD(bus lot) to the apt.- The driveway is steep and during winter 4WD or AWD and snow tires are A MUST to make it up. That being said, it is south facing and snow/ice melts off quickly on sunny days. There is public parking across the highway at the Community Center and you can walk up and/or I can help shuttle your luggage up.- We do our best to maintain the driveway and walkway free of snow and ice but it will be slippery at times. By making a reservation you accept risk of any/all personal injury or vehicle damage due to weather conditions.- Take note; Winter can be windy. It's not unusual for sustained 50mph wind for an entire day. Snowstorms can be heavy. It's not unusual to get multiple feet in a day. Winter also has many calm, beautiful blue sky days, especially following a storm. Be prepared for any and all weather conditions!- Altitude sickness affects some people. Drink LOTS of water! Take it easier than normal with physical activity and alcohol consumption. Canned oxygen is available in town at the B&F Market and other stores, it can really help ease symptoms!- Dress warm, in layers during winter.
