Our home is a piling beach house with our main living upstairs. The enclosed bottom is a studio apartment/suite for you to enjoy. We are on the peaceful Davis Canal with a dock where you can spend time drinking coffee or cocktails, reading, fishing, kayaking, boating and enjoying sunrises/sunsets. Enjoy the beautiful, shared in ground pool and hot tub area. We are a quick, easy walk or bike ride to the beach. The space:It is a private studio apartment with a private entrance, a queen bed, private bathroom with tile shower and towel warmer, and a blue tooth fan for enjoying music. The living area has a comfortable, reclining couch. There is no kitchen, but there is a microwave, fridge, coffee pot with pods and coffee. Dishes, silverware, and wine glasses are provided. Enjoy the shared pool area with hot tub and the shared dock area. The grill is available for you to use. Our expert cleaning crew abides by all industry standards and practices procedures endorsed by the CDC/WHO.Enjoy quick access to one of just two bridges onto the island and beach access points. Two minute drive/10 minute walk to the ocean and an even shorter walk to the Intracoastal Waterway. Oak Island has a paid parking program that charges for the majority of public parking spaces along the beach from April 1 - September 30 between the hours of 9am-5pm. Paid parking passes are purchased at time of use through a mobile app at a rate of $5/hour, $20/day or $80/week. Town of Oak Island public parking spaces are clearly marked and are generally located at public beach access points and town-managed recreation areas such as Middletown Park. Pay by downloading the Surfcast by Otto Connect app and/or by scanning the QR code on parking signage.The Wooden Whale is our home away from home. We’ve put a lot of time, energy and effort into making it a space that is welcoming, comfortable and well-appointed. The space has been professionally-designed and boasts an open floor plan with lots of natural light. Relax under the cooling breezes of ceiling fans (in each room), enjoy a cross-breeze from the full screen front door to the screened in porch off of the kitchen. High-end laminate flooring and ceramic tiled flooring in wet areas make clean up easy. The living room boasts a 55” smart TV with access to Netflix & Hulu (bring your login info!). The kitchen is packed full of dishes, cookware, small appliances and other essentials. We love to cook and have taken great care to include all the elements needed to create memorable meals. Curious to know if we have a particular item, just ask! There is a separate laundry room and common cleaning supplies available as well.The Primary bedroom has a King bed, walk-in closet, en-suite bathroom with double vanity & garden tub, dresser, bedside tables, quilt/coverlet, and pillows. The Queen bedroom has a Queen bed, dresser, bedside tables, quilt/coverlet, and pillows. The Twin bedroom has two twin beds, dresser, desk/bedside table, quilts/coverlets, and pillows. Both Guest bedrooms have close access to a hallway bath. Please note that sheet sets (including pillow cases) and bath towels are not provided. We are happy to recommend local rental services if you are interested. Our home comfortably accommodates up to six people (including children). The screened in back porch is the perfect place to sip your morning coffee, read a book curled up on the sofa or in a hammock chair on a rainy day, or enjoy an evening beverage with friends and family. Just outside the porch, you’ll find a patio complete with a dining table and chairs for six, and an outdoor shower for rinsing off after a fun day at the beach! Plus, enjoy a hammock for two in the spacious backyard! Outdoor games including cornhole and jenga are available for use as well. And don't forget the in-ground fire pit with accompanying six Adirondack chairs. Great for cooler evenings! A gas grill has been provided for guest use.The real star of the island is the beach itself. It's a short distance by bike or car with over 60 public beach access points. No matter the time of the year, your time spent at the beach will be memorable. Our absolute favorite place in the world is “The Point” – the westernmost part of the Island where you can enjoy outstanding sunsets and calm waters.We love the western part of the island. It's quiet but offers quick access to everything that makes OKI special. Take a left out of the driveway to reach the Intracoastal waterway - calm waters perfect for fishing. Take a right and arrive at the beach in less than 10 minutes (walking) or 2 (by car/bike)! Lots of lovely oaks adorn the island and the beaches, well, they speak for themselves.The Wooden Whale is located very close to the Swain's Cut Bridge (the "new bridge"), one of two access points to the island. There are two grocery stores on the island (Food Lion and Publix on Oak Island Drive) in addition to Lowe's Foods located just across the Middleton bridge. The island is motor and pedestrian-friendly. Oak Island Drive has sidewalks that run it's length and the neighborhood streets are quiet and calm.We have six beach chairs & umbrellas for you to use, and an excellent rental service to recommend if additional items are needed. Two lounge chairs are also available, although we ask you refrain from taking them to the beach - they are perfect for sunbathing at the house.Sadly, no pets are allowed and smoking is strictly prohibited in the house. Please dispose of any cigarette butts outside appropriately. Evidence of neglect in this area will forfeit your security deposit. The "Pink Pelican" was completely renovated in June 2020. We recently replaced living room furniture as well to seat more people. This 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house is perfect for your family getaway. Downstairs consist of 2 bedrooms, 1 King, 1 Queen + a full size crib, and a spacious bathroom. Upstairs has 2 bedrooms, 1 King, 1 Queen and 1 Twin and a spacious bathroom. All mattresses are Tuft & Needle and have mattress protectors on them. All 4 bedrooms have smart TVs, as well as the living room. You will be able to stream from your favorite serivces on all tvs. All TVs also have the Sling App for basic cable use.The kitchen is equipped with all of the things you will need. Enjoy sitting on the new deck with your coffee or cocktail and listen to the peaceful ocean waves. For those with little ones, we installed a locking gate at the top of the deck. We do not provide linens; guest will have to bring their own sheets and towels. Linens can also be rented from Sharon's Linens. If you wish to rent linens, please let me know when booking as we set it up through our cleaners for a seamless process. Additionally, they offer beach gear and additional baby gear if needed. We have a high chair, booster seat, full size crib, and baby gate for families staying with small children. Publix and Food Lion are located on the island and less than 5 minutes from our house. We have a list in the beach house of our favorite places to order take out or go eat at! Absolutely no pets or smoking. Renters must be 25 years of age. Summer rentals are done weekly Saturday-Saturday.
