Old North Inn Hotel, Inverness

What an incredible little inn! Since 1720, they’ve been welcoming weary travellers to this character-filled property — and you can really feel that history. It hit all the necessities for us: a large, bright, clean room, a comfortable bed, and a well-serviced ensuite. Ours overlooked the road via the balcony that runs along half the building. It’s easy to imagine the evolving line of travellers who have stopped at this inn over the last three hundred years. They don’t make a meal of the history, but it’s fun to put it in perspective — our country, Canada, wasn’t even confederated until 1867, 147 years after this place opened its doors! Pretty cool. The room was more than adequate, but the big surprise was the restaurant. The food is excellent and reasonably priced — we ate dinner there twice, and everything was well-prepared and delicious. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 is really just a quirk of its size. We were surprised to find that it’s not staffed overnight. Guests have secure access, but nobody is on-site managing the property in the wee hours, which can feel a bit disconcerting. That said, in decades of travel, I don’t think I’ve ever needed the front desk at 3 a.m.! To be fair, they do provide guests with contact information should a late-night need arise. This is not a branded hotel chain — but if you don’t need reward points, this is a reasonably priced, safe, and comfortable option. I’d happily recommend it!

Nous nous sommes arrêtés par hasard pour chercher un endroit pour dîner. L accueil et la bonhomie de l hôtelier nous a donné une très bonne impression. Nous avons bien fait : les plats sont copieux et goûteux. Les desserts typiques sont faits maison. Nous nous sommes régalés. Le service est efficace et aimable. En plus il n y avait que des locaux ce qui pour nous est signe de bon choix.

Stayed in our vans in the carpark as we noticed on one of the van parking apps it states you can park in the carpark as long as you eat in the restaurant. We called ahead and booked a table with a very friendly member of staff. As all Highland hotels it is starting to look tired and slightly dated outside and in. However. The staff all seem happy and friendly which is a novelty in Highland hotels. Now, the food is some of the best I've ever had. The steak was quality meat cooked and seasoned to perfection. Not only was it presented beautifully it was clearly quality produce. We also had pudding which was home made and top quality. All in all top friendly staff accompanied by top quality food. Also allowed us to use the toilet in the morning. Keep it up 👍

Fantastic Easter Sunday meal, great choice on menu, something for everyone, Sunday roasts were amazing choice of lamb and turkey both were very good, great food, great service, lovely wine, really enjoyed everything, a local that will definitely be back

Just had a fantastic dinner at the Old North Inn. The food was excellent and the staff could not have been more attentive. Excellent service, good fun and great banter. It was a family night out for a joint birthday celebration with my wee boy. He has a learning disability and the staff could not have been more patient and kind to him. He had a great time as we all did, and I enjoyed one of the best steaks I ever had. The meal deals were great value for money. I highly recommend checking this place out. Pleasant stay. Apprehensive on arrival, as outside gives impression its not really open! However reception warm & welcoming. Room modernised & very well appointed. Evening meal and breakfast enjoyable
