Chisholms of Troy Coastal Cottages

We stopped here at the end of a drive along the Cabot Trail. The cottage was lovely, and we were upgraded to a larger cottage on arrival. The owner was friendly and recommended places to eat in nearby Port Hawkesbury, which is about a 10 minute drive away. Views from the cottages are stunning, some coffee in the room would have been a nice touch as there is a coffee maker in the kitchen area.

This was a convenient one-night stop on our road trip, easy to find and in a quiet location with a lovely view. The air conditioning was on, which was a nice touch on a hot day. We could park right next to the cottage. The accommodation is quite rustic, with plenty of space in the sitting and kitchen area and small bedrooms. The blinds on the windows have seen better days and don't darken the bedrooms enough. The fan in the bathroom was very loud, as was the massive fridge. You'll need to bring along tea, coffee, sugar, etc., apart from salt and pepper there was nothing available. And the nearest shop is quite a distance away. Check-in was a bit awkward and communication in general could be improved. I suggest sending out an email with directions, the number of the cottage and stating that the key is in the door. That would have saved us quite a bit of stress, as the telephone number on the reception door didn't work with our phone for the first five or six tries. Altogether I'd say this is a nice peaceful place to stay, but probably more suitable for people who stay for a week or more and want to explore the area.

Our cottage was clean, cozy and well furnished with stunning views of the Canso Straight and causeway. We used the location to both start our tour of Cape Breton and cap it off 5 nights later. We would definitely go back!

Try is was a great place to begin our tour of Cabot. Our cottage was clean and comfortable. A tv, wifi, microwave, fridge, stove are in the cabin and a bbq is on the deck. A grocery store is about 15 min away in Port Hawksbury (along with some restaurants if you don’t want to cook). The owner was very nice and helpful. The view is fantastic. There is a huge hill that you can walk down to the water. Yes, depending on the tide the water/seaweed does make a bit of a smell but that’s seaside life so don’t complain and just enjoy the tranquility of where you are. We’re happy we chose this place. 10/10 for value, comfort and location.

Lovely view Very comfortable but bed was not. Everything was very clean and the cottage was well appointed.the view is incredible and it was quiet and serene.
