Ashnil Samburu Camp

Beautiful location with an unobstructed view of the river, beautiful sunrise from the gate. The food was delicious and there was much to learn on the game drive. The staff made our stay great. Want to relax and get off the grid? visit Ashnil Samburu.

Beautiful well-kept tents & grounds. I extended my stay in Kenya to move to Ashnil after traveling with a group, and couldn’t have felt more cared for by the lovely professional & friendly staff. And the food! So good and beautifully presented. Kudos to the chef. Wonderful safari guides and opportunities to see wildlife - I was excited to look up to see the elephant they’ve named Obama pass 30’ in front of my tent! (Other side of a fence.) Monkeys and baboons wander the grounds. Compared to other camps in the park and to better-known parks (eg Masaii Mara), Ashnil’s prices are reasonable, & you won’t constantly come across other tourists on your safari drives in this region. In case it’s not clear: I highly recommend!

We had a fantastic experience here. The service was top-notch and made us feel safe and relaxed. The food was delicious and there was a great selection at each meal. The tent was completely spotless and very comfortable. Sitting on our porch and watching the elephants, monkeys and baboons between game drives was exciting. But it was the service that really stood out. We would definitely stay here again.

My wife and I have just spent five fantastic night at the Lodge. The staff are all very helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Our tent was extremely clean and comfortable, we heard lions roaring most nights! We took advantage of the laundry service and our items were returned the same day clean and beautifully presented. The food was amazing, certainly the best we have experienced in the bush! The Lodge is actually situated in the Buffalo Springs National Reserve, and this is where our game drives took place, early morning and late afternoon. The Lodge has a nice swimming pool, and we took advantage of this after our morning drive. The tents have a small veranda where we spent time watching the camp wildlife, such as baboon and vervet monkeys, and the various birds. The game drives were brilliant. Our guide, Shukri, knew the area like the back of his hand and tried very hard to show us everything. There are great numbers of elephants and giraffe, as well as the various types of antelope. We saw lions everyday, on one occasion following three lionesses and their seven cubs walking along the road. And the unusual sight of lions up a tree, trying to catch baboons! We also had sightings of two different cheetah families, both with cubs of their own. Overall, a great experience, and if you are considering a safari I would urge you to give this Lodge considerable thought.

My husband and I, and another couple went on safari for both our anniversaries. The first camp we visited was the Ashnil Samburu camp and we were there for 3 nights. The location is amazing, all staff are fantastic, food was great and there is a bar/sitting area to go to during the day/evening if the pool is to cold to go to. We ended up playing games in this area in between dame drives, with Harrison serving great drinks! The only feedback is that the luxury tents could use an update or have some improvement in the camp but it doesn't take away from the experience - I realize that staying in such a place is already considered a luxury stay. But the tent we stayed in the shower stall and toilet definitely need some love. The beds are quite comfortable and the tents very spacious. Some things to note: the lodge does have laundry services available for a cost, the generator shuts down a couple times a day and there are no nets over beds (not really needed as there are no mosquitos). Overall it was a great experience and would like to thank everyone at the Samburu Camp for making it such a memorable trip!

Dans un décor pittoresque, ce lodge s'avère un excellent choix pour y séjourner. Les chambres sont spacieuses, lits et oreillers confortables, les buffets variés et délicieux. Et surtout le personnel est chaleureux, courtois et toujours attentionné. Pendant que nous étions à la salle à manger en soirée, le personnel aux chambres avait refermé les filets autour du lit et déposé une bouillotte chaude sous les couvertures pour assurer une nuit de sommeil parfaite!
