The Palms Oceanfront Hotel

I was super pleased with our stay! We got a very reasonable price on our stay so I was a little nervous to see the place and I was so very happy we chose to stay here! The staff was great, the hotel was clean, and the location couldn’t have been better! The only complaint we had was the elevator took forever and was not air conditioned so we used the steps which the stairwells are also not air conditioned. They had maintenance people painting rooms and doors keeping the place looking nice so they definitely care about the look and they guests so hopefully they can help this in the near future… I looked at a crazy about of places before we booked and I read reviews on every single one so I hope to help someone else with reassurance that this is a great place to stay! 5 stars!

Good value for the price but a little crunchy around the edges. Close to the beach and clean enough room but staff was a little cold and amenities were to be desired.

Stayed here with high hopes. Smelled musty. It was clean inside. No hot water for shower. It really was like a cleaner cheap hotel for resort costs. Literally, the harbor resort was cheaper. Thankfully, we had a nearby chain slightly inland that was 1/3 of the cost and we could still be at the beach within 6 minutes. Save your money- go inland.

My wife and I stayed in a partial oceanfront room, 3rd floor. They have multiple oceanfront rooms, floors 1-3. Our room as partial oceanfront was nice but it was above Lawrence Seafood, so loud at times. The oceanfront rooms would be the way to go as they are above the boardwalk to the beach. DO NOT get the rooms without a view as they only have windows to the hallway because the other side of the hotel borders has Coconut Joes and you are right on top of it. The pool was decent, small but decent enough. The front desk staff were nice, but an early check in will cost you $100. (Not on them, just hotel policy) The housekeeping staff were very good and on top of cleanliness, we had no issue with that. The room we had was very simple, but they need to do some maintenance. We had the sliding door handle fall off on the first attempt to open the door and the shower curtain rod was falling out of the wall. Both items were addressed, but I would’ve thought stuff like that would have been checked prior to check-in. Overall a good place to stay, centralized location and very easy to access the beach. You need to rent chairs & umbrellas ($40) for the day as the hotel doesn’t provide them. You’ll also need beach towels. Hope this helps.

First....the bad. We started out in room 122. The hallway to the room was a dark oven. Dark, dingy and very, very hot. The room, call an interior room was dark and dingy. There was only one window that looked out onto the dark, dingy hallway. Since people were always using the hall (as to be expected) we had to keep the shutters closed or they could see straight into the room. The room was very outdated and the air conditioning unit was very loud. Everything in the room needed updating. The shower had cracks and chips and was very old. The stairwells were moldy, sandy, rusted, dingy, smelly and gross. Some of the handles for the doors leading out of the stairways were pointed down, out of place and hard to use and falling off. The body wash, shampoo and conditioner smelled so bad that we couldn't use them. It was called drift and it smelled like a combination of medicine and cheap man. We had to go out and buy our own. We didn't even try the breakfast because we wanted to be out of this hotel as much as possible. I don't consider myself to be picky, but this hotel seemed like what I would imagine a truck stop to be like. The good.....the location is very convenient. After the first day, we asked if there was anything with a window to the outside. The lady at the desk, Stephanie, was so helpful and so kind. We were so impressed with her. She said a room would be available for an upgrade the following day. We moved to room 311 and it was much better because it had a sliding glass door to a balcony so we got light, which was much needed. When we started taking showers, we realized the shower was clogged. The next morning we told Stephanie and she got maintenance to fix it so that was good. Also, the AC unit would randomly cut off leaving the room very hot. That issue was never resolved but it would eventually kick on again after moving it to the dry mode. I'm neutral on the parking. It really didn't bother me nearly as much as the dark and dingy room. The review gets 2 stars because of how great Stephanie was-otherwise it would be a one. The location and Stephanie were bright spots. If you are going to stay here, made sure you get a room with a window to the outside.

I visited this motel and my children and I could only spend 1 night because the smell of mold and humidity in the room as well as the mechanical noise were so unbearable that we could barely sleep. One bed was visibility in disrepair along the frame and pool towels were regular plain white bath towels. The location was great because of the beach but we had to move to another hotel. This was not worth the cost.
