Situated right at the south of South Uist with views over the sea, the Inn has a great location in an area where there’s not a lot of choice. The building looks a little tired and careworn from the outside but our bedroom was clean and comfortable (and a good size). There was no one to greet us when we arrived and there’s no offer of help with luggage (which was okay for us but might not be for others). The optional evening meal was fine but breakfast was very basic and functional. A little bit more care over this would improve things (the only bread available for toast was thin white sliced). There were no tissues in our room, which is a little mean.

We stayed with our family of 5 in June. The views from our family suite were stunning. Watched the ocean waves roll in and out, took amazing strolls along a glorious beach with emerald green water. Rooms were clean and bright. Food was incredible. Best fish and chips I’ve had in the UK. Langoustines were fabulous and so was chicken Marsala. The two brothers at the bar really know how to take care of you! This place is magical!

Good friendly welcome - offer to take suitcases. Clean facilities but walls a bit thin and could hear the guy next door on frequent calls and early morning start. Bar meals and breakfast excellent. Good waiting staff. Traditional hotel. Breakfast had good range.

We dined on Saturday 21st. Sorry but the food simply doesn't get close to the quality the prices imply. Starters included Haggis Bonbons and Scallops with black pudding bonbon. All the fried stuff was way overpriced and not sure how it happened but oily inside the batter. Fish and Chips. Batter mushy and oily. Fish itself was nice enough. Chips poor. Again not sure whether it's down to the potatoes or the prep but they were dry and powdery. Desserts. Well for £10 each they were poor. Average food at top quality prices presumably down to the captive market on the Island. I wish I could have raved about the place. The island and people were fabulous (including the people here). Up the quality to justify the prices and it would be a winner

A group of us cycling the Hebridean Way stopped her for two nights. I’d describe the hotel as comfortable. The rooms are in good decorative order. The highlight of my room was the shower, fabulously powerful! The food was on the whole good. Again the best dish I ate was the langoustines with chive butter. These were excellent. The venison casserole was bland. The start of the stay was Tyler the young barman. He was working on his own to serve the restaurant and the bar with beers taps that were faulty. He handled us as customers brilliantly. After being kept waiting for nearly 20 minutes for a drink, he took the initiative to give free drinks to those of us that had waited a long time. He kept calm and handled the whole dilemma extremely well. I’d employ him any day! Well done mate. A charming young man.

Dreadful place, will not return. Overpriced, small & unclean room, complained and was upgraded to a family room, still overpriced, not all that clean, shower rail not working, so wet towels remained wet Our room wasn't cleaned during our stay, found evidence of previous guests in the room , made us suspect that it wasn't cleaned particularly well between bookings. Only ate dinner once here , it was ok. Breakfast mixed, why use the cheapest of cheap bread for toast? was as thin as cardboard with a similar taste. Yoghurt & fruit advertised on menu, never saw any yoghurt & 2 bananas arrived on day 3! Was here for 3 nights! took full payment at booking ( wise move on their behalf, would have checked out after night otherwise) It's a real shame, because of the amazing location , this hotel could be something special. Dodgy booking system , suspicion that they use some sort of dynamic pricing in reverse , the earlier one books , the more expensive it is! In great need of refurbishment.

What a delightful stay we had! The hotel is incredibly charming. The food and service was great. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and quiet. The beach (100 ft away) is beautiful. It is also five minutes from Eriskay and a short ferry ride to Barra.
