The staff were very polite, however I wouldn't recommend staying there. Firstly, the room I paid for was supposed to be 18 square meters, but definitely wasn't: I'd guess closer to 12 or 13. Secondly, I had some washing done and the staff told me I could pay per kilo rather than per item. Mine was just 1.75 kilos but they charged me $30 for this. That would be on the pricey side at a 5 star hotel in London, but for a 2 or 3 star hotel in Turkey it's essebtially a scam. I'd estimate it costs 100 to 150 Turkish Lira per kilo, and so with a hotel commision of say 100 Lira you'd still expect the price to be about half that amount or less. You could argue that this is my fault for not checking the price first, but it is still unreasonable and I wouldn't go back and stay there.
I'd suggest not staying in the Sultanahmet area at all. It's convenient to a lot of tourist places, but there are nicer parts of Istanbul you can stay in where you don't find so many people who are scamming tourists. The breakfast was perhaps the one positive thing I can say about this place.
