The Talbot and Apartment

Family weekend away. The Talbot is under new management and the experience has been fantastic. The menu has some really interesting South African dishes along with traditional food. There’s also a specials board too. We tried a mixture of specials and South African and were very pleased with the results. Hotel and bar are well run and owners really want to help you enjoy your stay. Ignore the older reviews on Trip Advisor before 2025, the new owners and staff have transformed the place. Highly recommend The Talbot.

I picked The Talbot as a bit of a pin- sticking exercise between my business stops at Glastonbury and Poole hoping for the best as the reviews seemed very good. What I found was a little gem of a place - a nice country Hotel with a friendly cosy bar. Had a very relaxed and enjoyable meal and just a few steps away was my cosy room with a bed that comfortable it was very hard to want to get out of it! I eventually did and made my way down to a favourite breakfast of mine - succulent mushrooms on thick toast. made a lovely change from continual fry ups 'on the road'. Every member of Staff was smiling and friendly which all in all made for a brief but super stay.

We picked The Talbot due to location in visiting Kingston Lacy, although, I also checked on the great recent reviews on Kim & Richard’s welcome. Mum and I felt extremely comfortable, relaxed and looked after.. the garden apartment was a fabulous size, never an issue parking and dinner was great with a real buzz about the place .. good luck to you both and your team ..

We spent 4 very happy nights at the Talbot when we were attending a family wedding nearby. What a delightful place, friendly and welcoming staff. Even rescued us when we needed cake tins! We would recommend the Talbot greatly. Good luck to Kim and Richard in their new venture!

I've been meaning to write this for several weeks now but since Kim & Rich took over, the village is overjoyed with the improvements. As a member of the Tuesday Club we, the old gits, are overjoyed with the overall service, friendly reception and food.

Had a lovely experience the food was incredible, and the staff where lovely will definitely be coming back. The chef even came out and asked how our food was, and was lovely and chatty. I had cheesy chips which had grilled cheese on top and was delicious. It was great value for money as well
