Villa DeWolf was a nice surprise on our recent trip home to see family in Jacksonville, IL. From the warm greeting at arrival with the owner Jethro and the butler Kimo, we knew we were in for a treat. Service was top notch and 5 star all the way. Our suite was clean, comfortable, and spacious with beautiful furnishings and en suite bathroom. The tour of the mansion and the history as told by the owner was a bonus treat as we learned the beginnings of the home and history of Jacksonville. The breakfast was amazing and delicious both days. We found this place on accident but will certainly be returning on our next trip to see the family. They also do weddings, events, and rent the entire house for your next party or event. 5 star service &a magnificent experience.
Our stay here at Villa DeWolff was absolutely amazing. From being greeted at the door by our host and the butler , to the beautiful room and suite to the historic b&b to the wonderful breakfast . Everything was 5 star service ! The owner , Jethro is the perfect host and historian of the mansion and magnificent history of it hometown of Jacksonville, IL. We are already planning for our next trip home to see my family there , and we will be staying here.

The owner, Jethro DeWolfe, met us and showed us all the rooms in this pre-Civil War era mansion and gave us quite a tour and explained much of the home’s restoration, contents and history. Great place.

Hospitality at its Finest ❤️
What a truly beautiful place for a quick getaway. The owner went out of his way to ensure that we felt at home and welcomed. In addition to the ambiance of setting, the owner prepared a delicious breakfast of blueberry pancakes, bacon and fruit. We couldn’t ask for a better stay and we will make sure that we stay again during our next trip to Chicago ❤️

Villa de Wolf is a stunningly and lovingly restored mansion (a banker's former home) in historic Jacksonville, an often overlooked goldmine of history...it referred to itself in its heyday as the "Athens of the West." Jethro de Wolf has created a beautiful place, meticulous and creative in detail, and it's walkable to downtown and Illinois College. He's a thoughtful host who makes over-the-top personalized breakfasts and knows half--if not more--of the town, so he went out of his way to help publicize some events I was holding there. Treat yourself to one of the beautiful suites!

21st century luxury in an 18th century mansion, comfortable, calming and charming. Jethro, your happy host, will explain the history of the house and describe how Abraham Lincoln would visit the neighborhood and Augustus Ayers, the home's original owner, when he came to Jacksonville for court. What a truly unexpected- and amazing- experience staying at Villa DeWolf! We stayed two nights as a base camp for visiting Springfield and loved every minute of it. The home is stunning , the room spacious and comfortable, and the hosting by Mr. DeWolf and Kimo the Butler without compare.

My family and I stayed at Villa DeWolf while we were in town for a baseball tournament. It was more than just a stay—it was an amazing experience. I loved the historical significance and the owner’s and staffs’ passion for the history of the mansion and town. It felt so comfortable and peaceful. And I loved how quiet and clean is was compared to most hotels in the area. We were just 5 minutes from the ballpark as well!!! I felt like I had stepped back in time but at the same time, had all the modern luxuries. Mr. DeWolf and Kimo the butler were just extraordinary people. We will be back for sure!!!!! It was an experience we will never forget!

Top Notch Service in this quaint town. Mr. DeWolf's passion for preserving history made the mansion a hidden gem on our list. Preservation meets all of the modern necessities at this historical site. From the guided tour with historical facts, to the butler service, and the keeping of the authenticity seamlessly blending with modernizations, our stay was enjoyable. The room was clean, the water was hot, and the homemade breakfast was delish. All things we look for when traveling.
