"This is our second experience staying in the Old Story Inns (OSI). Our first at Dali and second here at Lijiang. The front line employees are very approachable and service oriented. The Owner/Boss has no airs and very down-to-earth. He and his employees made our very short stay at Lijiang very memorable. Apart from the unpredictable weather, our stay in the OSI at Lijiang is, in short, two thumbs up. Keep up the good work everyone from the OSI at Lijiang! 😁"

"Located near the ancient city entrance, so you dont have to walk far to find the accomodation. Easy to hail ride or taxi. Room was spacious. Some of the furniture is a bit run-down, but they added to the charm of this place. Very basic daily housekeeping (empty trash can, added new water bottles/toiletries). We got a room on the top floor and we can hear movement from downstairs. Also, it might be noisy to some as this place is located near the entrance."

"The hotel's location is superb, situated near Lijiang Ancient Town and within a 15-minute walk. Despite the bustling surroundings, the hotel interior provides a quiet retreat. The facilities are modern and feature smart design throughout, including voice-controlled curtains, smart toilets, humidifiers, and robot delivery services, offering a convenient and contemporary experience. Rooms are spacious, bright, and impeccably clean, with comfortable beds. Breakfast offers a wide variety, and local specialties like rice noodles and wontons are particularly delicious. Overall, the hotel offers excellent value for money, providing service and facilities that exceeded our expectations. We would definitely choose this hotel again on our next visit to Lijiang."

"After my trip to Yunnan, I took some time to rest and reflect. Now, I can finally write a review for each place I stayed. My stop in Lijiang was an absolute must! The hotel is located in the Mu Mansion area, within the Old Town. It's easily accessible, which was a huge relief, as dragging luggage to guesthouses deep within the winding alleys can be quite a nightmare. This makes it an excellent choice for its location. Late at night, the owner's sister personally came to pick us up and helped us pull our luggage to the hotel using a trolley. While we were still a bit disoriented, she gave us a lot of sound advice. The owner also treated us to tea. It was particularly thoughtful when she brought me water during my severe cold. Although she's from Hunan, her warmth and enthusiasm were just like that of a Yunnan local, making us feel completely at ease. Her advice proved incredibly helpful throughout the rest of our trip. Their service was exceptionally warm and enthusiastic; they helped us sort out our room arrangements and were very accommodating with our needs. Even though the hotel was bustling with guests, the soundproofing was excellent, and it was wonderfully quiet at night. Just before we left, they even booked a complimentary airport transfer service for us! This was an unexpected and pleasant surprise that put a perfect end to our Yunnan trip. Many thanks again. "As the reviews say, the owner is really nice. The nearest taxi spot is the Songyun Village parking lot, and the owner will pick you up at the parking lot. Luggage in the ancient town is indeed difficult, but luckily I was carrying a backpack! Although it looks like wood, the guests are very quiet and I slept very well. Shuhe Ancient Town and Baisha Ancient Town completely changed my view of Lijiang. They are very quiet and I love them. It's a pity that I was on a tight schedule. I will choose this place again next time!"

"Having just left Lijiang, I specifically wanted to write this review. Historically, I've always opted for hotels over guesthouses, primarily due to reservations about cleanliness. However, during my research for this trip to Lijiang, I kept reading about how unique and charming guesthouses in Yunnan are, which prompted me to try one. After a careful selection process, I couldn't be happier with my choice. First and foremost, the room was incredibly spacious, with tastefully coordinated decor and even a tatami area. It was spotlessly clean, rivalling well-known hotel chains like Atour in terms of hygiene, making for a very comfortable and reassuring stay. The guesthouse also boasts two rooftop terraces, perfect for unwinding and enjoying the views. It was a shame that during the current rainy season, my time up there was often cut short by sudden showers. Additionally, there's a good collection of books available for guests to read during their leisure. Breakfast was a delicious bowl of mushroom and minced pork rice noodles. On the afternoon of my arrival, the proprietress was actually preparing the meat sauce herself, and the aroma was absolutely divine! The next morning, I devoured my breakfast in record time; it was truly delicious, even better than what you'd find in local restaurants. My personal advice for anyone visiting Lijiang is to plan for a longer stay. The high altitude means you'll need time to acclimatize, so don't rush to explore immediately. Instead, take it easy and slowly wander around. Even just spending some leisurely time relaxing at the guesthouse, as I did, is incredibly enjoyable and highly recommended!"

"My one-night stay at Chuye Homestay was absolutely fantastic. It truly lives up to the saying, 'you get what you pay for.' When you're traveling, it's definitely worth investing in comfort rather than just going for the cheapest option. The amenities are superb: fully smart rooms equipped with projectors, smart toilets, and smart mirrors. The complimentary toiletries are very well-stocked, even including razors – something the guesthouse I stayed at the night before, for a similar price, completely lacked. Their rooms are also noticeably more spacious than others. The host even thoughtfully provided complimentary drinks and snacks [thumbs up]! If you don't feel like going out, you can relax in the courtyard with coffee or tea and listen to the host's fascinating stories. Cleanliness: The place was impeccably clean, with every detail taken care of. Location: It's very convenient for getting around; just a few minutes' walk to the main road where you can easily catch a taxi. I specifically researched this during my trip planning, as many reviews mentioned that Lijiang Old Town is vast and staying too far inside can make transportation difficult. Since I planned daily outings, choosing a spot slightly closer to the main road was perfect for exploring the Old Town and catching taxis to other scenic spots. An added bonus is that it's much quieter than staying right within the Old Town, which allowed me to have a very good night's sleep. Service: The service was incredibly warm and welcoming, making us feel like old friends. If we were unsure about things to do or places to visit, the host patiently explained everything [thumbs up], which saved us both hassle and money. Online guides aren't always a perfect fit for everyone, but the host provided us with a detailed, personalized itinerary tailored to the weather and our interests! My only regret is not booking this place sooner; I would have loved to stay a couple more days. I truly hope that on my next visit, I can once again enjoy the host's coffee and fully immerse myself in the beauty of Lijiang!"

"It's been many years since I last visited Lijiang. I decided to take advantage of the summer holidays to bring my child along for a trip. We wanted to experience a guesthouse, so I booked a two-night stay online in advance. The guesthouse is located right by the South Gate of the Ancient City, just a short walk inside. The small courtyard had a lovely ambiance, and our Naxi-themed king room was very comfortable. There's also a big, friendly dog named Matt at the guesthouse, whom my child absolutely adored. Our two-day stay felt too short, but we had a fantastic experience. Highly recommend this wonderful guesthouse!"

So, I didn't hesitate to book a room for her there. After she checked in, my friend couldn't stop raving about my choice of accommodation. Seriously, both of us agree that Shanshare Hotel's service philosophy is truly second to none among all the hotels and guesthouses we've ever stayed in. The moment we booked, the front desk reached out to inform us they would arrange a pick-up service from the airport. This instantly put us at ease in a new environment and made us even more excited for our trip. Upon arrival at the guesthouse, several staff members eagerly helped us with our luggage, invited us to relax in the lobby, and thoughtfully served us our favorite coffee. Stepping into the room, we were even more impressed. The guesthouse is newly renovated and comes equipped with a Hushiki silent mini-fridge stocked with complimentary drinks, and an AUX mini instant hot water dispenser with Nongfu Spring purified water. These thoughtful details clearly showcase the owner's dedication to providing a high-quality experience. The bathroom was incredibly spacious, featuring TOTO double sinks, a smart toilet, and TOTO shower fixtures – every single detail exuded quality. After a full day of exploring, returning to the room and unwinding on the comfortable bed, catching up on shows with the JMGO 5K giant screen projector, was simply pure bliss. The hotel's breakfast was also excellent. The delicious pan-fried eggs, prepared by the breakfast chef, paired with fresh milk, were so good that even I, someone who usually isn't keen on breakfast, ate a very satisfying meal. The biggest surprise for us was the observation deck on the third floor. From there, the distant snow-capped mountains seemed almost within reach, and we had breathtaking panoramic views of the ancient town. Throughout our stay, we genuinely experienced the guesthouse's warm and thoughtful service. Even when we checked out, the staff went above and beyond, using a tricycle to transport our luggage to the main road. If I ever get the chance to visit Lijiang again, Shanshare Hotel will undoubtedly be my top choice, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone!"
