Sadly not a pleasant experience. We stayed at Shiv Vila’s as part of a three week tour of Rajestan for two nights, sadly it was not a particularly pleasant experience. As international guests we were excited on arrival to be guests of the resort during an Indian wedding ceremony. During our stay we were served extremely under cooked food which was returned to the kitchen and on second attempt found still raw(chicken), we were subjected to noisy corridors during both night’s sleep and other guest were smoking in rooms and the smell made its way to common areas. On our second evening the restaurant was closed, as the hotel is some way away from the city we had to arrange a cab to travel offsite for dinner. We had a lovely breakfast on our first morning but the second morning the breakfast choice was halved. On checkout we bought our small issues to the attention of staff and asked to see the manager, eventually Radhey turned up and was very dismissive of us. I asked for a discount for the undercooked meal, we didn’t get the full breakfast experience on the second morning, two disturbed night’s sleep with partying in corridors, at this point our cases were taken away out of site until we paid in full. It felt like our luggage was being held hostage. We stayed in some beautiful hotels and resorts during our stay and sadly this is the one we remember the most but for all the wrong reasons. After reading other reviews it looks like we were not the only international guests with similar complaints. I contacted the hotel on arriving home expecting at least an apology, sadly not but quite a rude response. It looks great but massively under performs.
