What must be the first time in all our travels, we actually got to our room after check in and didn’t make a fuss and ask to change rooms. Clean, bright, all the usual amenities you would expect to have in a room such as slippers, gowns, good range of toiletries, free Wi-Fi, plenty of sockets including USB, and a fridge. One thing I would say is that the mini bar is non existent. You have to pay to have it filled with a range of items of your choice but pay up front. Good security that was evident with guards in abundance on the floors as well in the lobby. A strange set up for the Hotels restaurant where you have to leave the hotel down lift/stairs into the mall underneath and a short ten yard walk to the entrance of the restaurant/breakfast room. Food was very good and breakfast was also good although the staff behind the frying counter found it difficult to make 1 (ONE) egg with a runny yolk. The taxi prices using the hotels taxi service are astronomically high, and the late checkout caused a bit of an issue trying to charge me for an hour or two extra in the room. Massive black mark on the hotel for that but easily rectified by a candid discussion with the manager. The most praise though must go to the concierge team and especially Billy & Peter who were both superb, from emails backwards and forwards prior to our trip to doing what he could to help us during our stay. A few little issues but overall, would we stay there again on our next trip to Johannesburg, I think all things considered – yes. The staff are helpful (except the receptionists – who annoyed me when they tried to charge for early check in and late checkout which does really annoy me), always smiling, cant do enough to make your stay great.
