Awesome property with kind staff and spacious rooms. Stayed for a week as family of 5 in a two bedroom ocean front unit. Unit was huge - lots of space for our crew and the full kitchen and laundry in unit was fantastic. Beautiful views! We loved everything about our stay - only factors that led to give 4 stars instead of 5: resort only had Pepsi products (we very much prefer Coke), pillows were horrible - old and floppy and uncomfortable, and the onsite restaurants were mediocre. Everything else was fantastic!

I booked a 5 night stay here using my Bonvoy points. I was choosing between here and the Sheraton Maui Resort (Black Rock) but went with the Maui Ocean Club as they don't charge resort fees and their daily parking was cheaper. Those 2 things alone saved me a few hundred dollars. At one point, the point redemption differential between the 2 properties was about 25k points higher here vs the Sheraton but the dollar savings convinced me to go with this one. Plus, it got me a 1 bedroom suite with 2 bathrooms so it was a much bigger space. As this is a vacation club property, I knew going in that my Marriott Platinum status won't mean anything but it was ok as I didn't need a late checkout. We checked in promptly at 4pm. The clerk at the front desk explained the property pretty thoroughly although the one part I can't recall if she went over was the housekeeping. I say that because we didn't receive daily housekeeping but only 1 midweek housekeeping. I thought that because I booked my reservation directly through Marriott that I was granted daily housekeeping but that didn't seem to be the case. In the end, it didn't matter too much as it was just the 2 of us. The room itself was nice and clean. I liked that it had 2 balconies. Our room wasn't directly facing the beach but more at an angle. It worked out as our room didn't get much of the direct afternoon sun and thus the room stayed cool during our entire stay. Actually, our room was much cooler than it was outside just by having the balcony door open without the need for AC. One of the pools was closed for maintenance but the main pool was open. The property update site mentioned construction work would be happening during our stay but we didn't find that to be a problem at all. I enjoyed the slide in the main pool although I wish it was longer and stayed open later. Overall we enjoyed our stay here. Just hearing the ocean waves while getting ready to fall asleep was a treat in itself. We also liked watching the sunset from our balcony. The complimentary laundry facility was also a big deciding factor. I thought I'd have to wait for a washer/dryer to free up but they have about 10+ each so finding an empty one was never an issue. If I could make a suggestion though, I recommend posting signs to leave the washer door open while not in use. These were all front loading washers and if you close the door after use, the residual moisture inside the washer can't evaporate resulting in mold and mildew buildup plus that nasty dingy smell. I had to go through several washers before I managed to find one that didn't have that smell. One drawback was the proximity of the parking garage to our room. We were assigned to the farther garage so it took 5 minutes from room door to car door. A minor quibble and honestly not that big of a deal although it was a bit annoying when I realized halfway to my room that I forgot something in the car. This resort is tried and in need of updating. Our unit had two bathrooms and both tubs had the friction strips worn off and unfortunately my wife slipped and fell in the tub while showering. The front desk offered a rubber mat for the tub AFTER the fall. According to the front desk Mr. Geller, the president of Marriott Vacation Worldwide Club, has refused to let them put a rubber mat in the bath tub unless someone asks for it. Obviously Marriott is not concerned with the safety of their guests. In our opinion Marriott, which used to have premier property, has lowered their standards both for safety and upkeep.

One of the best spot when we have an ocean view in a villa on the 9th floor Great for Marriott destination club members because the rate is over 1000$ a night if you are in a villa and not member Great restaurant on site and try a macadamia pie it is unique Everywhere you will find a smile and help A place to go in a marriott vacation Club

I guess being a Lifetime Titanium Elite member doesn't mean much. Booked a room with an ocean view, and we got a view of the hot tub (maybe you could call it a partial ocean view). I asked Katelyn (Manger) if she could discount the rate for a non ocean view and she said her hands were tied and couldn't do anything at her level. There were no other rooms available because the timeshare folks are all here now. Which is fine except you should not book rooms like this and lead people to believe they're going to get a full ocean like you see in the pictures of the rooms on the website.

Cockroach greetings I just checked into the Marriott Ocean Club Villas with my family last night and needless to say, it has been a nightmare. First, there was the big cockroach greeting us in the living room that crawled all the way across the room into the side of the dishwasher. Then it was the wet/damp carpet that felt sticky and the leftover piece of mango left by the previous occupants lying on the floor of the living room. We called front desk to ask for help with the cockroach but they said they would have to take the dishwasher unit out and spray some eco lab in that area. As I have a 1 year old, I didn’t want to expose my kids to that so we asked for a room exchange. The front desk said that the hotel was only able to move us if we agreed to check out by 10am and wait up to 4pm for the other room that becomes available. So we are about to be “room-less” for up to the next 6 hours. We have to repack all of our stuff, empty the fridge, and gather our things now. What a complete disaster of a trip so far and it’s hasn’t even been 1 day. I asked to speak to a manager but I was told the hotel managers do not work on weekends. I will update my review at the end of my trip. Update 1: We found and killed the cockroach. The problem is we don’t know if it was the same one from last night. It looked smaller. We are packing our stuff and getting ready to hang out in the hospitality room for the next few hours until they have a room ready for us. Sigh. Updates 2: We asked for some compensation for being “roomless” for a few hours but the front desk manager said they can’t compensate us. He said we would have to escalate this to hotel management.
