My husband and I stayed at Wiss House for one night, a Saturday and were surprised to find we were the only guests!! We stayed in the Lionel Suite which is the only one of the four guest rooms to have an ensuite. The other 3 bedrooms, all beautifully furnished share the main bathroom. The advantage of these rooms is they have lots of natural light and open out onto the extensive verandah. The Lionel Suite, despite having its own bathroom was very dark, with no natural light entering the room. The adjoining bathroom has a window but you have to pull down the maroon blind to use it as the window is not opaque. This consequently makes the bathroom dark also and the lighting is inadequate. Good luck to anyone wanting to apply make-up! The house offers a sitting room with TV and DVD for guests but it is very small (if all 8 guests wanted to be in there) and the furniture is very tired looking as are the cushions on the verandah furniture which are very worn and holey. This is a property of great historical value and has some magnificent features, however, it is in need of some serious TLC with tired, flaky paintwork, in need of a makeover to bring it back to its "luxury B & B" rating. Sara as the host is the most welcoming, accommodating person with a huge personality. She bakes the most wonderful welcome cake with afternoon tea on arrival and strives to make your stay as wonderful as possible. Breakfast is hearty and traditional and is generous with her 3 course evening dinners (although not cheap). Unfortunately it does show that looking after this huge property on her own is difficult.
