We stayed at the Mitsis Alila from the 5th of June for a 2 week stay. We had read so many great reviews regarding the food at the hotel and a lot of 5* reviews overall prior to booking, so we were hoping for the ultimate 5* holiday. The hotel itself is modern, beautiful and very clean. Our room was modern, spacious, exactly like the photos, with a sea view. The room was well equipped with a Nespresso machine and pods, all toiletries, our bathroom had a full shower and bath, a provision of slippers and robes. We were impressed with the hotel and the room. However, we had an issue with our Air-Con, it was very noisy so we couldn’t leave it on for long periods to cool the room which made the first few days/nights of our stay uncomfortable and there was an awful smell, almost smelt of bad drains or urine every time we walked into the room which was noticeable from the moment we were shown to our room. This was later rectified by the Guest Relations team and Deputy Manager. There are Al-a-Carte restaurants at the hotel which you need to book at the start of your holiday, Italian, Greek and Asian and of course the main buffet. We had a couple of meals in the main buffet restaurant and had tried the Italian restaurant during our first few days and were underwhelmed, the quality of food is poor, the meals in the buffet are generic tasting, variety is limited, the Italian restaurant was hit and miss, my partner had the Carbonara and it was dry and barely warm. The soft drinks served throughout the hotel were not great, we chose to take the cans out of the fridge in our room instead as the drinks being served were not fizzy and did not taste right. The drinks at the Adult Pool during the day were flat and odd tasting, the water being the worst. The water served at the pool during the day tasted like pool water, we asked for water without ice to see if the ice was the issue, but it tasted the same. There are water filters around the hotel which tasted good, so we are unsure as to why this tasted so bad. The service during the day around the pool and at times, in the evening was slow, sometimes you waited up to 30 minutes for your order to arrive, and sometimes it felt that if you went to the bar to ask for a drink without waiting, it was the wrong thing to do. This did improve after a meeting with Guest relations and the Deputy Manager. The hotel sends a survey to you via email during your stay to enable you to provide feedback about your experience so far, we were not going to complete this at first, but we felt it important as we were not happy with the food at all and had started going out into Rhodes town for some meals. We received a call to our room from Guest Relations and they wished to discuss the survey with us, with the Deputy Manager present. This is a good touch from the hotel as it shows they are always looking to improve their customer experience. The manager took it all onboard and made us reservations at the Al-a-Carte restaurants and
