SpringHill Suites Kanab

New property within 1 hour of reach of beautiful landmarks.

This is a relatively new hotel in the Kanab area. Last time I passed through it was still under construction last time I went through about five months ago. I was excited to try it. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. It started with the entrance. It was too small and lacked check-in parking. Then the majority of parking was down the hill. Next we went into the room and it was not clean. It was dirty on the counters and nightstands. The counters in the bathroom looked like the were just installed, label glue stuck and spray painted. The bathroom had hair under the soap dish. The drains did not work in either the shower or the sink. They filled up faster than they emptied. The bed was lumpy and hard to sleep on. The next morning breakfast felt like a disaster. The flow of the area did not work. The help couldn’t keep up with wiping down the tables. They consistently ran out of eggs, sausage, the egg sandwiches and it looked like the pancake batter. I over heard one staff member state they had not have a crowd like this. They didn’t know how to handle it. I typically like SpringHill Suites by Marriot, but I will think twice before I stay at this one again for the price.

A brand new hotel, located right in the downtown Kanab area. We booked a King Suite for two nights. The room was laid out with a couch, desk, and sitting area, and then a separated section with the bed. Everything was very clean and comfortable in the room. We arrived much earlier than the check-in time of 3:00pm. I know an early check-in is not guaranteed at any hotel, but with it being low season, and seeing very few guests, we were surprised to be told to come back around 1:30 or 2pm for the room. With 4-5 hours to kill, we asked the front desk, if we can grab a snack at the complimentary breakfast buffet that was in the lobby while we decided what to do.... but were told since we haven't officially checked-in we would have to pay for it. Again, I know it's not expected... but we were surprised, considering most hotels would try to work with the customer to make the stay more hospitable. Maybe that's just the SpringHill policy though? I don't know. Once we did check-in, the breakfast buffet had a couple hot options, some great oatmeal, but just a suggestion maybe add baked goods? muffins? etc. Some lighter food options to have before a day of hiking. Overall, the room, the space, the lobby, everything was new and adequate, if we were in the area again, likely we would return!

The staff was great. We got up late for breakfast and went down to eat not knowing Sara was putting food away instead of adding to the buffet. Sara was so kind and helpful, she never said a thing about it. In fact we did not realize until we were all done that breakfast had stopped 1/2hour before we got there! Kindness makes for a great stay at any hotel. Thank you Sara A
