Lake Lodge Boutique Hotel Kandalama

The most amazing hotel we have been during our 2 weeks trip in Sri Lanka. The room is great, the swimming pool a pleasure and the food is amazing. We had as well a massage and it was the best massage of all our trip !! All the staff was incredibly nice, and respectful. The place is really calm. It’s a paradise, you can’t miss this place!

I had high hopes for the food at this hotel, but it ended up being one of the worst parts of my stay. I ordered from the restaurant menu and was incredibly disappointed. The pasta was overcooked and swimming in a watery, flavorless sauce. The chicken dish I tried the next night was dry and clearly reheated — not something you’d expect from a so-called “Luxury boutique” hotel restaurant. Even the presentation looked rushed and unappetizing. To make matters worse, the food took forever to arrive, and the staff didn’t seem particularly bothered. For the price, I expected much higher quality. Save your money and eat elsewhere.

Wir waren traurig als wir die Lake Lodge nach zwei Tagen wieder verlassen mussten. Vom ersten Moment an hatten wir uns in der Lake Lodge sehr wohl gefühlt. Das sehr aufmerksame, nette Personal und vor allem der Besitzer Michel, der das Herz am rechten Fleck hat. Verwöhnt wurden wir abends vor dem Essen mit einem Apero. Das Essen war das Beste, was wir während unserer gesamten Reise durch Sri Lanka hatten. Dass vielleicht hier und da in der Lodge der Lack etwas ab war, machte das damit durchaus wett. Jeden Abend ein Betthupferl. Auch die Lage, das Frühstück am Pool inmitten von Bäumen. Und den Affen zuschauen wie sie sich von Baum zu Baum schwingen. Alles in allem ein Ort zum weiterempfehlen und wir kommen wieder.

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting Sigiriya (Lion Rock), Poloonaruwa and Dambulla (Temple Caves) This 12 room luxury resort is located near the shores of Lake Kandalama, near Dambulla and is well located to visit other attractions in the region including those I mentioned above. We were personally greeted by the owner Michel and his Manager on arrival and check-in procedures were conducted pool side overlooking the lake whilst sipping our welcome drink. The rooms are large, spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything you could possibly want or need. This hotel is all about service. Everything is anticipated by the staff. Drinks and snacks appear as soon as you settle by the pool, rooms are tidied and clean the minute you step out the door, the waiter appears to take your order as soon as you look up and a staff member appears like magic with a torch to light your way back to your room after your meal. Please, please do eat at the restaurant as it is like having your own personal chef. We ate at some great restaurants in The Galle Face in Colombo, The Grand Hotel in Nuwara Eliya and the Marriot Hotel at Weligama Beach but for us the three meals we had at the Lake Lodge were the best we had in our 18 days in Sri Lanka. We would also rate our stay here as the most enjoyable.

Cet hôtel est un petit bijou... Tout est pensé dans les moindres détails! Les chambres sont spacieuses, d’une propreté irréprochable. Le cadre est magnifique, parfait pour une parenthèse de calme et de détente après une journée de visites dans le triangle culturel. Le service est exceptionnel, aussi bien à l'hôtel qu’au restaurant. Le personnel est attentionné, professionnel et toujours souriant. Michel, le patron, est très acceuillant et a inculqué a ses employés vrai souci de la qualité et du confort des clients! Le restaurant mérite a lui seul une mention spéciale... Des plats savoureux, un service irréprochable et une ambiance chaleureuse. Bref, une expérience parfaite du début à la fin. On ne peut que fortement le recommander!
