Kandolhu Maldives

Wir haben uns bereits 1995 in die Malediven und ihre wunderschönen Riffe verliebt. Seither haben wir viele verschiedene Inseln besucht. Unser persönliches Paradies ist mittler Weile Kandolhu. Mit Betreten der Insel geht der Körper automatisch in den Entspannungsmodus. Man spürt, dass Claudio und Luciana die Insel mit sehr viel Herzblut führen und fühlt sich nicht als Gast sondern als herzlich willkommener Freund. Diese Atmosphäre trägt sich durch das gesamte Resort, von den Gärtnern über das Housekeeping, das Restaurant und die Bar bis hin zum Spa. So werden im Urlaub auf Kandolhu alle Sinne verwöhnt und wir kommen zum wiederholten Male mit einem Koffer voller wunderschöner Erinnerungen heim. Es ist auch nicht möglich einzelne Personen hervorzuheben, weil uns alle mit einer herzlichen Freundlichkeit begegnet sind. Als ruhesuchende Naturliebhaber hat uns neben der wunderschönen Insel mit einer sehenswürdigen Architektur und einem Essen, das die Augen und den Gaumen gleichermaßen verwöhnt, auch das wunderschöne Hausriff in seinen Bann gezogen. Das Hausriff von Kandolhu sucht seines Gleichen. Überall wachsen neue kleine Korallen verschiedenster Arten nach, es gibt unzählige verschiedene Fischarten zu beobachten und wir haben täglich Schildkröten und Haie gesehen. Oft war der Ozean so ruhig, dass man wunderbar die kleinen Einsiedler und Krebse in den Korallen beobachten konnte. Jeder Schnorchelgang hat uns neue zauberhafte Begegnungen beschert. Dazu zählte auch ein Treffen mit 8 Adlerrochen, die uns eine ganze Weile begleitet haben. Unsere Empfehlungen sind für frisch Verliebte oder wie uns noch immer Verliebte das Couple Treatment im Spa, das mit einer kleinen liebevollen Zeremonie endet und ein Beachdinner. Wir werden auf jeden Fall möglichst schnell wieder unser Paradies besuchen und grüßen hiermit alle Mitarbeiter von Kandolhu, die uns einen absolut wundervollen Urlaub beschert haben. If your idea of paradise is a pristine tropical island with swaying palm trees and pure white beaches surrounded by a fantastic house reef, then Kandolhu should be at the top of your list when visiting the Maldives. We have wanted to visit the Maldives for a long time but with so many islands, which one should we choose? We were recommended Kandolhu by our Travel Agent and we were certainly not disappointed throughout. We were greeted on the arrival by Claudio and Luciana and members of the team and received a warm welcome – this personal attention continued throughout our stay but at just the right level – we are quite private people. We celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary during our 10 night stay and fully appreciated our wonderfully decorated bedroom and gluten-free anniversary cake as extra surprises on the day. We ate in all the restaurants but our favourite was Sea Grill as we liked to sit in front of the kitchens and watch the different foods being prepared and cooked. In all the restaurants, nothing was too much trouble and dietary requirements and personal preferences were easily catered for. We would like to give credit to ALL the friendly, professional, hard working staff across the whole island from the team of people sweeping and clearing the paths and beaches first thing in the morning (which we witnessed when we arose early to watch the sunrise on numerous occasions) to the people working in the offices, bars and restaurants, your team effort ensured we had the best holiday. We would also like to acknowledge a few individuals who particularly stood out for us which include Ameen, Maan, Astrid and Jenny (my spa treatment was amazing). The Doctor was also very professional and helpful when we needed to use his services. As newbie (nervous) snorkellers, we enjoyed our complementary snorkelling session on our first day with the very patient Shard and were delighted to see a turtle and even a large green turtle just beyond the reef (followed by a very interested shark!). We attempted a second snorkel ourselves but as this was a less enjoyable experience, we embarked on another guided tour, this time seeing nine Eagle Rays and octopuses and another turtle, again with Shard and have been delighted with the videos he took on a GoPro (especially as he was able to free dive and really capture some fantastic footage to help us remember the amazing house reef.) We also kayaked around the island one afternoon which was lovely to see the whole island but it is not as romantic as it looks in the brochure (Ha Ha). We stayed in a Duplex villa and loved having our own pool, and direct access to what felt like a private beach most of our stay. The villa was cleaned to a high standard inside and out everyday and we particularly liked the well stocked Mini Bar with a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink choices. If you need to relax and get away from everything then Kandolhu is the place for you! It is a tiny island in a spectacular setting. As you get off the boat, you are met by the lovely hosts Lucy and Claudio. The rooms are exquisite, we stayed in a beach villa with a pool. Wonderful food and incredible service by the friendly staff. The house reef is amazing for snorkeling. Very few boats and no sea planes allowed makes for a peaceful experience. If you want a romantic get away then Kandolhu is your spot. We were sad to leave.

Kandohlu is the perfect island. This was our first visit to the Maldives after many years of dreaming about it. After a lot of research, I found this place. This island itself is small, and a stroll round it took about 10 minutes. We didn't want a large impersonal resort and the 30 villas here are all very private. I was worried about the transfer from Male airport to Kandohlu but it all went very smoothly and we waited less than an hour until we boarded the seaplane. 25 mins later we landed at a nearby resort for a 10 min speedboat ride to Kandolhu. We were met by the smiling staff on the jetty and given a tour of the facilities on the island before being introduced to our Duplex Pool Villa. The villa was fantastic, with loads of space, a wonderful pool and great view. The beach outside our villa (No. 118) was lovely and the sea a fabulous blue. We had two bathrooms which was great as the outside bathroom got very hot and humid, so it was nice to be able to use the inside bathroom where the aircon from the bedroom could cool it down. The lounge area was lovely to relax in and the bed was comfortable. The patio was sunny but there was plenty of greenery for shade. We also had two small White-breasted Waterhens who visited us. They were very friendly and enjoyed the pool too! We were also visited by a large Crane who strolled around the island showing off to the the residents. We even watched him catch a fish. On Kandolhu you have access to all the five restaurants, although you need to book for Ata Roa and Banzai as they only have a small number of seats. We sent an email to request bookings before we arrived but I'm sure you would find availability if you waited until you arrived. All the food in the restaurants was fabulous. I have seen some criticism of the buffet breakfast, but it was fine when we were there. The buffet itself is only small but the a la carte menu has a large variety of choice to cater for all requirements. The staff were also happy to personalize the menu for you if you wanted. Throughout our stay, the meals were fantastic and no request was turned down. The chef was able to accomodate most amendments to meals if requested. We would be unable to choose which restaurant we liked best as they were all great. There was also a good selection of dishes at them all so no chance of getting bored with the food. Part of the reson we chose Kandolhu was that all restaurants were a la carte waiter service and there were no restrictions on which restaurant you could use. Some other resorts limit you to certaint restaurants depending on your meal plan or what type of villa you are in. We went Ultimate All Inclusive so we didn't have to worry about any extra costs. There were a few specials nights that attracted extra costs but they not compulsory. you could eat in the other restaurants instead. The snorkeling around the island was brilliant. it was great that we didn't need a boat trip to reach the reef. Even snokeling just off the beach

This year was our fourth time here, and we know for sure it won’t be the last. We’ve simply fallen in love with this island. It starts right at the airport in Malé, where you’re taken care of from the moment you arrive until you board the seaplane. The excellent care provided by all the staff throughout the entire stay is exemplary, and the gastronomy is outstanding. And it doesn’t matter which restaurant tempts you in – they’re all great. Everyone is constantly kind, attentive, smiling, and helpful. They know exactly the right level of communication so as not to be intrusive. Kandolhu is a paradise of silence and relaxation. From the bar, you’ll only hear soft music – pleasant, never disturbing. Not even in the villas do guests play loud music, as everyone is enjoying the incredible tranquility. The reef is beautiful and easily and safely accessible. It’s something you simply have to experience.

Wir haben neun Tage auf dieser traumhaften Insel verbracht und waren sehr angetan von dem ausgezeichneten Hausriff, dem unglaublich kulinarischen Essen und dem äußerst freundlichen Personal. Dies war bereits unsere neunte Malediven Reise und wir können sagen, dass diese Insel mit ihrem wunderschönen Hausriff besonders hervorsticht. Wir haben hier beim Schnorcheln unglaublich viele Haie gesehen und sogar an einem Tag acht Adlerrochen, die direkt an uns vorbei geschwommen sind. Die Korallen sind noch sehr gut intakt, das haben wir auf anderen Inseln schon anders erlebt. Wir möchten uns auch noch mal ganz herzlich bei Astrid bedanken, die uns in ihrem kleinen Restaurant immer sehr leckere Tacos zubereitet hat und auch bei Prisco, der in seinem japanischen Restaurant wahre Kunststücke vollführt hat und unser Essen sehr humorvoll und mit Gesangstalent serviert hat. Auch unsere Massagen waren wieder hervorragend auf dieser Insel und wir fanden es besonders, dass man den Saunabereich inklusive Pool für sich alleine buchen konnte. Auch das Managerpaar auf dieser Insel hat sich sehr rührend um uns gekümmert und an einem Tag sogar zum Champagner eingeladen. Auf dieser kleinen Insel gibt es sogar fünf Restaurants, was wir als sehr abwechslungsreich empfanden. Es war ein wunderschöner Urlaub, den wir nicht mehr vergessen werden.
