Kilindi Zanzibar

Worst experience ever.. Not worth the price. They don‘t have there staff under control. There are such nice places on Zanzibar and around bit this is none of them.. Please avoid this place.. I‘m very fine paying 1000 or more a night (low season) but not with this bad service!

Kilindi is unlike any hotel where we've ever stayed. Each room includes 3 separate but attached buildings: a bedroom, an outdoor bathroom and an outdoor living room and splash pool. The food was delicious, our waiter Saleh was top-notch. We would also recommend the cooking class, conducted outdoors by the pool. We had a great time and made a great meal. We also paddle boarded and kayaked, which we enjoyed. A couple of notes: the beach isn't available at low tide (there's no water in the cove at low tide). Also, they could use a bit more shade around the pool. In the afternoon, it's hard to find a shady spot. Otherwise, perfection with incredible service.

Wir haben dieses Hotel nach unserer Safari gebucht und unsere Erwartungen wurden leider nicht erfüllt. Man darf nicht vergessen, dass dieses Hotel über 1000 $ die Nacht kostet. Ich kann verstehen, dass es zufriedene Kunden gibt, die gerne dieses Hotel wieder besuchen. Unsere Hostess Witness hat definitiv fünf Sterne verdient. Das Management nur einen. Es fängt damit an, dass die Bilder in den Anzeigen geschönt sind. Direkt gegenüber dem Beach gibt es eine Bootsreparaturwerkstatt. Das führt dazu, dass tagsüber dort gehämmert und gearbeitet wird. Ich hätte mir gewünscht, dass man diese Informationen vorab erhält, dann hätte ich definitiv ein anderes Hotel gebucht. An einem Tag war es so laut, dass man den Strand gar nicht nutzen konnte. Auch am Pool war es sehr unangenehm. Wir hatten unser Anliegen direkt vor Ort gemeldet. Man teilte uns mit, dass man unsere Reklamation im Management weiterleiten würde. Danach kam null Reaktion. Auch auf Nachfrage unseres Reisebüros hatten wir mitgeteilt, dass seitens des Managements keine Reaktion kam. Wir wurden noch mal darauf angesprochen, aber dann hat mir auch keine Lust mehr gehabt am vorletzten Tag. Ich finde das Verhalten des Managements in diesem Preissegment sehr schlecht. Keine persönliche Entschuldigung, einfach nichts. Wir hatten das Glück gehabt, dass wir die Villa 9 hatten. Es ist die einzige Villa mit einer Toilette im Zimmer. Wenn sie das Hotel buchen, versuchen Sie, das Zimmer neun zu bekommen, sonst dürfen Sie nachts viele Treppen steigen. Jede Villa verfügt über einen eigenen Pool, leider war unser Pool am letzten Tag dreckig, da unser Pool nicht gereinigt wurde. Ein kleiner Kritikpunkt war, dass es an einem Tag keinen Service am Pool gab. Wir haben uns dann die Getränke selber an der Bar geholt. Bei einem Preis von 1400 $ sind meine Erwartungen nicht erfüllt worden. Wir werden den Mangel über das Reisebüro reklamieren und notfalls einen Anwalt einschalten. Für mich ist das Verhalten des Management nicht akzeptabel, deshalb ist das Hotel aus unserer Sicht keine Empfehlung.

I went to Kilindi for lunch, as I was considering staying there for my last night in Zanzibar and (thankfully) decided to check it out first, since it's just a few minutes drive from Zuri where I'm currently staying. I called in advance and asked the woman that answered whether non-guests are allowed to come for lunch. She said yes, but it's $100. Expensive, but I thought OK why not. When I arrived at the gate, I was kept waiting there for over 15 minutes by the security guard, who was not only unapologetic but literally laughing at the fact that I had called ahead and yet was still not being allowed in. When I was finally allowed in, I was escorted to a reception area where I was told I had to wait for the return of the resort's 1 receptionist, who was currently on a "site inspection". The food ended up being average, the receptionist totally unapologetic (and demanded that I pay the $100 up front before I continued with my meal), and even the WiFi didn't work. Their beach is also terrible. I'm glad I went though because at least it saved me from spending a night there.

My wife and I have just spent six nights at the Kilindi. Throughout our stay, we were so well looked after, with all of the staff being so friendly and helpful, which more than made up for the one of two minor inconveniences when we were there (such as needing to wait for the tide to come in to enjoy swimming in the sea)

Kilindi Zanzibar is beautiful. The whole property is stunning, full of tropical flowers and amazing wildlife (Sykes' monkeys and greater galagos)! The villas are extravagant - our villa #15 was at the top far end of the property, incredibly private with a great view. Two (!) plunge pools, an air conditioned (!) bedroom with a mini fridge full of complimentary drinks, and an open air bathroom with a rain shower. The white washed architecture and design is beautiful throughout and the pool, paths, rooms, and spaces are kept absolutely pristine by the incredible team at Kilindi. I highly recommend a massage from Winifrida or Kathleen and a sunset dhow cruise (but note that you may need to wade out to the boat!). We also booked the spice and Stonetown tour and our great guide Abdullah was a lot of fun as well as extremely knowledgeable. Jacob was our terrific villa host who helped us book outings and ensure that our every need was met. The team at Kilindi works extremely long hours and we appreciated their efforts to provide an exceptional experience. The food was incredible and varied - everything was included from the welcome fresh coconut drink to the chips and guacamole that appear when you sit by the pool. You could choose from an a la carte menu or a multi course tasting menu and on our last night we were surprised by a spectacular seafood barbecue on the beach. We had an amazing stay!
