Friendly staff, comfortable room and delicious breakfast

Fantastic hotel seemingly dropped into Kegalle from another part of the world. This is certainly only somewhere to day trip to, but if you are going to stay over, then this hotel should be your only choice.

It's a very cozy banglow up the hills along the main road, convenient yet quite. the staff there is also welcoming to the guests. The restaurant manager who work in Heritance Kandalama before is so kind to refer us to his former friends in Kandalama when he knew our next destination is there. The hotel manager also gave us a tour about the hotel, telling interesting history and story of this facility, making this stay more delightful.

We stayed here for one night during our Sri Lankan adventure. It is truly an oasis atop of a mountain in Kegalle. Beautiful grounds. Staff were very nice. The room was spacious and as the title states, in all of our hotels, this bed was the comfiest. We had a very quiet and enjoyable rest. Dinner and breakfast were nice; good options for all. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The only thing we didn’t love was that the shower has no enclosure and so the floor and sink got wet but this was no deterrent.

A really old hotel but with modern helpful staff. Booked this at the very last minute and so pleased we did . There were wedding’s going on but the staff gave us attention to book us in . Interesting room with old boiler generator as a feature in it . Great bed, shower , facilities etc. nice pool area as well.

The food, fresh juices and services at Grand Walawwa in Kegalle are truly outstanding. My family and I were especially impressed by the frozen mango margarita. It’s the best mango juice we’ve ever tasted! We absolutely loved its rich flavor and refreshing taste. Highly recommend !!!

We had a wonderful stay at the Grand Walawwa. It is a beautiful hotel and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Their presidential suit is very large and spacious. We only had breakfast which was delicious. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Kegalle.

Very nice room and overall hotel was extremely clean. Friendly staff and great level of service. My only negative (from a foreigner) would be the food - it was very average/below average, but affordable. They did upgrade our room free of charge when our hot water didn’t work and they were very kind and accommodating when I asked for late check out (we left very late and they didn’t charge any extra for it) they also helped arrange taxi rides at the front desk. Overall, very good stay 👍

We booked to stay 3 nights here, but only stayed for one evening due to the fact they had back to back weddings booked for the duration of our stay. Both of our rooms backed onto the wedding venue with only one internal window between us and the main wedding reception. The music, which was really loud, finished at 11pm and the party wrapped up at around 11:30pm. The following morning staff started to set out for the next wedding at 7am with the clatter of trolleys, plates and voices at 7am which woke us up. The wedding procession came right past the doors of our rooms as we were leaving to check out and part of the wedding and the buffet for the wedding breakfast were by the pool/outside our room, meaning we couldn’t use this area/the pool. On a positive note, the staff were extremely helpful, especially the restaurant manager, and nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant was very good. The rooms are very comfortable and large, and very clean. When we complained and checked out, they gave us a 10% discount without us asking. Any Brits beware - they don’t have a drinks licence. The hotel is small and I really would not recommend staying there is there is a wedding, as there is nowhere to go to get away from it.

Everything was top notch! We loved our stay at The Grand Walawwa. From the moment we got here we were amazed at how beautiful and peaceful this hotel was. The food was amazing, the rooms were great and bathrooms were the best bathrooms we have ever stayed at!

The Grand Walawwa is located in the heart of the busy town of Kegalle, yet well concealed from the daily bustle. The hotel was once called "Wickrama Walawwa" and is in fact a nearly 100 years old colonial bungalow. The hotel's architect has preserved the mansion's old world charm and incorporates the modern luxury. And comfort. The hotel is located atop a hillock, and offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountain ranges. The hotel boasts of a friendly staff. The receptionist went the extra mile to give us a tour of the premises. The rooms are very spacious and we were very satisfied with the amenities. The hotel is a popular venue for weddings and gatherings. I feel the place would become inconveniently crowded on such days since the property is rather small. We were luckily the only couple occupying the hotel during the weekend and we were able to explore and use the property to our hearts' content.
