The Royal Oak Hotel and Restaurant

We had a lovely overnight stay, staff were always so friendly and accommodating. Modern bathroom and good room design. We found the quality and quantity of the food, which was locally sourced, excellent. Prices were very reasonable. Really handy for our visit to Chester. The Restaurant/Pub was uniquely quirky which gave it a real character. We will definitely stay here again.

We stayed in the hotel , unfortunately the hot water only came out boiling hot in the shower and couldn’t be adjusted. We also had no toilet paper , and the beds are extremely hard. The food menu in restaurant is extremely limited . We were aware the hotel had just recently re opened but did raise our complaint to the management, who offered us a reduced rate for our next day. To be honest, we were not going to make this offer up as felt we should have been compensated on the £600 we had spent with the hotel already , however a couple of months later decided due to the close proximity to where we were visiting , to take the hotel up on the offer as perhaps they had over come their teething problems. We phoned the hotel directly to book however the staff in reception said all bookings must be done online, which we did , and booked 3 rooms. I then emailed the hotel to ask how they wanted to work the price reduction and was told as it had previously had such a bad stay and given a bad review they were cancelling my bookings . I would like to clarify I had never left a bad review in any public domain until now as find this incredibly poor business and I now have to wait 5 working days for my refund of 3 rooms.

Lovely property with excellent staff. Food also very good. Charming. would recommend
