Ideal for visiting the many abbeys, gardens and stately homes (Floors Castle and Mellerstain House & gardens nearby). This is an ideal area for those who enjoy walking and cycling with secure bike storage and a heated drying cupboard in each cottage. Not only are there some lovely short walks within Burnbrae but there are also walks that start directly from the site with a wide choice of walking to suit all levels, where you can take in the spectacular scenery. Cycling is a particular pleasure with a good network of quiet lanes around Burnbrae. In the hills, there are plenty of tracks and the Glentress Forest provides extensive cycle tracks which are separate from the walking paths (mountain bikes can be hired at the main entrance to the forest). Horse riding is a very popular past time in the Scottish Borders, as is fishing and golf, with numerous courses within easy reach of Burnbrae. There is a riding stables next door. The Scottish Borders also has a wealth of culture and history and many beautiful gardens and historic properties to visit.
