La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Kennewick

I’m a “platinum” member of Wyndham’s frequent flyer club, whatever that means. I drove I-90 from Michigan (2,000 miles) and stayed at a different one every night, and they were all… meh. Didn’t write reviews. Spent 5 nights in Kennewick, WA that were a pleasant surprise, a real upgrade from the rest. You might have different things that matter to you, but I’m neuro-divergent, with hyper-sensory issues. I used to be a contractor with state government for inspecting public properties for disability access, so let’s just say I care about design, space, efficiency, and universal ease of use. La Quinta Windham in Kennewick earned five gold stars. I loved the electric fixtures, the furniture choices (for ease of cleaning floors), the window coverings with easy to reach and use controls. Everything seemed esthetically pleasing, yet designed to endure punishing use. I did not take a wheelchair-accessible room so can’t comment on it. The one tiny maintenance issue was lime in the bath spout, which cut the shower pressure in half. On the positive side, the water temp was pleasantly warm as soon as I turned the spigots, without scalding me. The breakfast dining was standard fare for food, but large and well lit with natural light, so that I did not feel claustrophobic with children and families doing the feeding frenzy as I passed by. The little coffee nook, microwave, and fridge in my room allowed me to avoid contact with strangers completely. I grind my own beans for pour-over java, so never had to test the hotel coffee at ‘tall. Final note, my mattress was excellent, gave me a full 12 hours rest without pain, high enough for easy stand-up, and everything from floors to ceiling corners was freshly cleaned. On the return leg of my trip, I’m coming back and asking for my same room in 308.

Nice, clean property with very friendly staff. I stupidly left my phone at the hotel and Sarah, especially, was very, very helpful in helping me arrange to have my phone sent to me. Sarah definitely went the extra mile to help me out. I will always choose La Quinta when staying in the Tri-Cities area. Paul Franklin

The air conditioning was not working, tried everything to no avail. We talked to the front desk and she came to the room to try and figure it out but couldn't come up with a solution. She said the hotel was full so she couldn't switch our room. We had booked a month ago and requested a double queen and this was done. The hotel called a week before we were to come and said they didn't have any double queens available so we were to have a king room. Whatever. I was frustrated as the temp in our room was 83.....I asked her if she had a fan we could use, she did and this saved us for the night. The bathroom was a tight fit. You had to straddle the toilet paper roll holder while brushing your teeth, and while closing the door to the bathroom, there was a quarter inch space where the door was going to hit the toilet. Strange. My husband had the breakfast in the morning. I couldn't partake as everything had gluten in it. I am celiac and diabetic so there were no options for me, but I'm used to this. I wish there was boiled eggs and maybe some yogurt, but oh well. The bed was okay and actually the pillows were great and we were only staying for the night but all in all, I wouldn't stay here again. I will find another accomodation that has a little more room and air conditioning. The front desk personnel were pleasant but they couldn't do much.

Was good. Traffic was load all night. Waiting for checking was long, no one at desk we all tried to call number left on sign. Line was 6 customers waiting for 20 minutes for someone.

Arrived early, but Sarah helped us secure a ground floor room, check with housekeeping for time room would be available. As we had an hour or less I asked for dining establishments around and she told us of those that were near and good. When we arrived back she had all our paperwork ready, and check in was fast and great.

The room was very clean. Greatly convenient location with a gas station, coffee hut, and restaurant all in the same lot.
