We recently stayed at Peppers Salt for the fourth time, and unfortunately, the experience fell well short of the standard we’ve come to expect from this hotel. Service during our stay was disappointingly poor, which is not something we’ve encountered here before. At the time of booking, we specifically requested that the beds in the second bedroom be set up as two singles, and a note confirming this was recorded on the booking form. However, when we arrived, the room was configured with a queen bed. Even though reception staff could see the request in the system, it had clearly been overlooked. We were assured the beds would be separated without issue, but after three hours of waiting, we had to follow up with reception. It was only after further delay that the beds were eventually reconfigured. Later that evening, as the temperature dropped, we went to look for extra blankets — but found none in the room. We called reception and were told some would be sent up. After an hour with no blankets arriving, we went down to reception ourselves. The staff member who had taken our call advised that the request had been marked as “completed,” even though nothing had been delivered. Blankets eventually arrived after a further wait. When we went to use the shower, it became clear that it hadn’t been properly cleaned after the previous guests. There was broken glass brushed into the corners of the shower floor. We contacted housekeeping, who were visibly shocked to see the glass and did their best to clean it thoroughly for us. The staff member who helped us was lovely, but the situation was disappointing and concerning from a cleanliness and safety perspective. Finally, when we returned to our car parked in the underground car park, we found it completely covered in bird droppings — not just a few spots, but the entire side of the car. Every vehicle in the car park was in the same condition. While we understand that birds cannot be removed, measures such as enclosing the exposed pipework or installing bird spikes could easily help prevent this issue. Until this is addressed, we regret to say that we will not be returning to the hotel.
