There is no refrigerator; there is a cooler for your ice and perishables. (Yes, we have a coffee grinder.) The direct vent propane heater is easy to use and super warm. The wood stove stays warm all night too. In the summer, a breeze off the 3,100-foot mountain behind us keeps the container cool, and fire flies and crickets in the field will lull you to sleep.Staying in the cabin is an experience, not a simple overnight. There is something very special about it and this property. You won't want to go to sleep watching shooting stars from the deck on a summer night. On a 20-degree afternoon in the middle of a blizzard, it is 80 degrees and silent inside. Eight guests have gotten engaged here. (All said "yes!") Another guest chopped his bundle of wood into 1,000 toothpick-sized pieces thinking that the fire would burn longer and hotter that way. (It does not.)There are streams and cliffs and tons of wildlife on the property. Owls and red-shouldered hawks soar above the forest cabin, as well as fireflies in the summer. Deer graze in the field and woods and eagles visit now and then. This place was built for two, but it can fit four. Two adults and two kids is perfect. After shooting a few hoops on the indoor basketball hoop (!), relax your muscles by sitting in the infrared sauna. The first is a large 3 season open area with a basketball hoop, heavy bag, infrared sauna and a separate yoga/meditation room. You can even hook up your relaxing playlist to the sauna's built in speakers. The other area is the main living space consisting of 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, country kitchen, dining area and office nook. One of the bedrooms with queen bed is located on the ground level. The other 3 bedrooms are upstairs with two having their own entrance which are connected by a large room with twin-over-full bunkbeds (perfect for families). The master bedroom has a king bed and the other bedroom has a double bed and desk. The upstairs bathroom is, quite simply, a work of art with amazing tile work in an large, albeit quirky, open plan bathroom. The downstairs bathroom has unique stone floors taken from the onsite quarry and a rustic wood framed bathtub and sink. The cozy living room has a roaring hot wood stove where you can relax reading a book or enjoy watching the Alexa enabled TV with Netflix, Amazon, etc apps included. Outside you have a raised flat yard with a tree swing, chairs surrounding a fire pit and loungers to enjoy the mountain views by day and star filled skies at night. It's the perfect home base to explore the Catskills and Hudson Valley. The nearest grocery store is 3.4 miles (7 minutes). 2 miles away is the surreal Opus 40 sculpture park that features live music picnics in spring, summer and fall. Everyone knows the name "Woodstock" but this cute picturesque town is more than tie-dye and great local music. It's home to some of the best upstate restaurants including mind blowing cuisine of Red Onion, Silvia and Cucina, as well as the quaint Brooklyn-esque vibe of Shindig. The home is fully stocked and ready to enjoy!The spaceLarge and comfortable inside and out. We have made many recent renovations to the property like a new HVAC system with mini splits for each room so you can adjust as wanted whether it be heating or cooling. We have improved the basement laundry area. This home was built in 1905 and we've made the first steps towards upgrading the basement. We had a new hot water ductless system installed so you will not run out of hot water. I might add the hot water takes several minutes to get warm in the upstairs bathroom but it works great once it's ready.Guest accessYou have the entire home. One closet on the second floor is locked and the 3rd floor is currently not available to guests. We hope to be able to add that space in the next year or so. Please note that bedroom 3 is a pass through to bedroom 1Other things to noteWe have been hosting our home for over 2 years however we recently decided to no longer partner with a 3rd party booking company. Due to this change, the site shows as no reviews however as you will note we have copied them from the discontinued site to the pictures section here. We had a 5.0 for our reviews which is an important factor for guests when choosing a home. We will continue to have the same great cleaner and management as before but will now be able to have personal contact with our potential guests - which is why we decided to make the change.
