Second time in Ruka. Magical experience. This time even more amazing stay as we were lucky to see northern lights just above our house we stayed. Late everything in pine forest covered by fresh snow and clear ski full of stars and suddenly the magic has appears with romantic lights. Cannot describe with words enough, you need to see it with your own eyes. The house we spent all week is definitely can be considered as a smart home. Warm and spacious, next to ski lift. If you looking a place to relax and recharge your soul and body, Maston Aitio the right please.

Samen met mijn partner ben ik hier acht dagen geweest in de t****e week van januari 2022. Wij hadden bewust voor deze accommodatie gekozen omdat het tussen twee pistes in lag. Het was ongeveer 30 minuten lopen naar de ene pistes en 30 minuten naar de anderen pistes. Een piste lag in het centrum van Ruka. Het ziet er gezellig uit en de pistes zijn goed verlicht wanneer het donker wordt. Wij zijn eenmaal met de taxi van Ruka naar de accommodatie gegaan, dit is ongeveer 3 km en kosten €20,00. De skibus stopt voor het huis en is voor een enkele reis €3,00 per persoon. Het nadeel is dat de bus op deze plek maar één keer in het uur komt. Wij werden vanaf Kuusamo airport opgehaald met een bus. In de bus kregen we een envelop met daarin de planning van onze (vooraf) geboekte excursies, ook kregen wij een brief met de code van onze accommodatie. De voordeur was voorzien van een codeslot en dit maakte dat wij niet hoefde te wachten bij een receptie, maar meteen het huis binnen konden. Dit vonden wij heel fijn! Het huis zag er heel netjes uit en er is heel veel bergruimte. Alles wat op internet stond was ook aanwezig. Wij hadden over het hoofd gezien dat er geen wasmiddel inbegrepen zat dus dit miste wij wel, in de supermarkt op 30 minuten lopen hebben wij wasmiddel gehaald zodat de handdoeken gewassen konden worden. Dit hebben wij in de droogkast laten drogen. In de keuken was meer vaatdoeken hetgeen wat wij miste, verder niets. Afwasmiddel, afwasborstel, schuurspons, vaatwasmiddel, keukenrol en aluminiumfolie was aanwezig. In de badkamer en in het toilet hangt een zeepdispenser. De bedden moesten wij zelf opmaken, op het beddengoed zaten heel veel lange (menselijke) haren. Omdat wij met z’n tweeën in een vier tot zes persoons huis zaten konden wij gelukkig nog ander beddengoed pakken. Dit was schoner, ook wel wat voorzien van haren, maar veel minder. De verlichting in de eethoek en in de zithoek vonden wij heel fel. Een dimmer zou niet verkeerd zijn. In de schuur ligt veel hout en dit wordt zelfstandig aangevuld door personeel. Ook stonden er vier sledes in onze schuur waar wij veel gebruik van hebben gemaakt. Het park wordt regelmatig met de sneeuwschuiver geschoven. De WiFi is heel goed! Zover wij weten zit er geen receptie op het park. Dit hebben wij ook niet gemist. Mocht er iets zijn kan je bellen naar een telefoonnummer en wordt je geholpen. Ski-Inn MastonAitio raden wij aan!

Stayed here for skiing in the February half term and had a great time. The cabin was so comfortable and warm, and had everything you could need (sauna, wood burner, washing machine, dish washer, microwave, oven, toaster, drying cupboard), with underfloor heating in the main areas and the bathroom. We had two bedrooms, and a bathroom and separate toilet. The ski store was right outside, as was the wood store, and we were a very short walk to the top of the easy slope which led down to the main lift to take you into the ski area. Only trouble was we couldn't use the rope-hold drag on this lift to get us back up at the end of the day as gloves just couldn't hold on, so we ended up in the valley and caught the ski but back to the cabin. Note, the bus stop directly outside the cabin is for the main bus, the ski bus stop says "ski bus" on a red background and is a short walk away. The cabins were very quiet, we occasionally heard skiers on the cross country track which goes alongside the road, but never the road itself, and nothing from neighbours. We took fewer clothes than normal and did a load of washing and dried it in the drying cupboard, and took a few food items in their place. The kmarket in the valley was fine for what we wanted, we did visit the larger supermarket as it was near an excursion starting point, but it wasn't necessary. You could easily self-cater throughout your stay, but we tended to eat at lunchtime in the valley or village and just had breakfast and tea in the cabin. The Bistro was great, good food and right at the bottom of the slopes, often busy and a bit canteen-like but never any problem finding seats (especially on the Saturday, when it was quite empty, must be a change-over day). We travelled with Crystal, but you could easily do it independently; there is a bus from the airport to Ruka, and we ordered lift passes and skis etc on line (which worked out cheaper and far easier as you provide all the info needed prior to collection so everything is ready for you when you pick them up). If you do travel with Crystal the coach drops you off at the cabins. Check-in is given as 6pm but we were able to go straight in at 12.30 - probably depends whether the cabin was in use prior to your visit. Did an excursion independently too. Overall we loved our visit and would love to return. The slopes were great for our mixed ability group, the snow was fantastic and the people in the cafes, shops and bars were really friendly.

We love Ruka and will always stay in Maston Aitio Cabins! Ski in and out easily and out of the main hustle and bustle of the village and valley but still close enough to walk in if needed. Cabins are clean and have everything you need for self catering. Having your own sauna is a bonus especially after a day of skiing in -20. We will be back next year.

We stayed here with TUI Dec 2021 for a Lapland holiday. We were not disappointed. The apartments had everything you needed, 2 spacious bedrooms, 2 toilets, 2 showers and a sauna. The kitchen had everything you needed (the cups are tiny so take a travel mug if you prefer a large brew). You are about 3 km from Ruka village, taxi is about 20 euros but the bus was 8 euros for the 3 of us (2 adults and 1 child aged 11). The bus stop is literally on the doorstop. Ruka village has a K.Market so you can get the essentials. There are souvenir shops and lots of restaurant if you choose to eat out. We went to Colorado restaurant 1 night and it was lovely. Food is reasonably priced but alcohol is extortionate! We did the husky and reindeer tour with TUI, we do not recommend this excursion, it was 620 euros for the 3 of us and I would say we had a total of 13 minutes on the husky and reindeer! I am still waiting a refund. The Santa trip and taster sessions with TUI were fabulous! We had friends who were visiting at the same time and they booked excursions privately, they found those to be good value for money and had longer than we did. Overall the apartments are comfortable, warm (you never have to touch the heating), there is a dryer for clothes, a wood store for the log burner which is so cosy, the previous guests left a sledge and we had loads of fun with this. Lapland was one of our best trips and we have been a good selection of places. It is a must, a lifetime trip especially with children.

The lodge was great, well equipped, very warm with under floor heating, radiators and a log fire. Wood is provided. Ski up and away from the lodge if you wish or there is a bus to take you to the village or the valley. The valley is only a 20 min walk. Beds are comfortable, good showers and the sauna is excellent for those tired muscles. Only down side the upstairs room in the 6-8 berth, the stairs are very steep. Kitchen has everything you need including a dishwasher, microwave fudge and cooker all the pans lates and cutlery are also provide. The views from the lodges are stunning all in all well worth the money. 5 out of 5
