Sign of the Angel

I booked a surpirse weekend away here for my partner and do not recommend it. The room was advertised on the hotels own website as having an overhead bath shower. On checking into the room we found that was false. Instead, there is a bath and a separate hand held shower attachment. Even the on duty manager was confused stating they didn’t know where the shower had gone! We paid for a room with a shower, as advertised on their site. The bedroom door also has huge gaps (approximately one inch in places) around the main bedroom door. There is a curtain as a substitute. Whilst I appreciate this is an old inn, in my opinion this is far from ideal from a privacy perspective. Let alone the noise from downstairs and the corridor. The management will listen to your concerns, but in my experience came across very disinterested in offering any service to address these. We barely got an apology. Very disappointing. As other reviewers have commented, the cleanliness of the rooms also isn’t great. The bedroom carpets are worn and dirty. If I’d have known, I wouldn’t have booked.

Sorry but we came for a change ! But never again was not good and vary expensive 😕 for raw lamb rump and hake not any better the young staff where nice the wine was good but the rest 3rd rate would not go again

Lunch only and first visit for some years although previously very regular visitor. Extremely disappointing. Understand we had not booked. Told curtly no space in garden and rather offhandedly given table nearest door. Garden tables remained empty all the while we were there. Friendly waitress but most uncomfortable chairs ever sat on in restaurant. No ambience. Ordered light bites platter. Two measly small pieces of bread, one of which was revolting! Whole place looked unkempt. Loos needed new seat and cleaning. I used to absolutely love this place as somewhere to stay and eat. Glad not staying this time. Man in charge (no idea if employee or owner) grumpy . Nothing but negative changes as far as I am concerned and although building could still be lovely needs more love and attention.

Very charming place.15th century coaching inn. Great food. Nice outdoor dining area. Nice. Located in a small village.

Excellent, friendly staff. Food was creative and tasty. Loved how the historic fabric was maintained throughout the building.

It’s historic and full of history . You are in the middle of a historic village Lacock and have so much to visit from the hotel . The bed and meals were good with all your needs catered for .
