Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside

Shuttle bus took a long time for us to go to the park. But the hotel was good.

Pros: • Staff. All staff are amazing, professional, friendly, kind and full of energy. • Location/setting. Well kept, really clean and tidy, • Shop/Pool/Arcade. Shop is great if not overpriced but it’s to be expected. Pool and arcade are great. Children loved it. • Buses / Boats. Regular, easily accessible. Great service. Cons: • Rooms. Need updating, especially bathrooms. Showers are so bad, it took ages to wash shampoo out of your hair. The hotel have already started work on a couple of the buildings, so that’s great. • Food. Biggest issue for us. Really unhealthy, same menu everyday, canteen far too busy due to the tiny area it’s been set up in, with queues for each area and tills, reminded me of a school canteen. Noisy, chaotic. Unclean tables, chairs and floors. Plastic cutlery (not good). I don’t expect to eat with plastic cutlery when I’ve come on holiday as an adult, children not so much of an issue. We had a partial dining plan that came with the booking. Thank goodness we hadn’t paid for a full dining plan. We left with multiple meals still available. You are not allowed to have fruit/yogurt/cereal as a breakfast meal, it went down as a snack, which is ridiculous. So fruit - 1 snack, yogurt - 1 snack etc. using up 3/4 snacks for breakfast in order to try and be healthy. Not good. No where to make a piece of toast. I don’t want big unhealthy meals. I could get waffles, potato barrels (which are great the first day but the novelty wears off very quickly as they are so high in fat) with bacon and sausages as a meal/kids meal, but nothing healthy?! Even the omelettes had loads of cheese on, taking away that healthy option and also came with potato barrels. The same meal options every single day and there was a special on two of the days. We only stayed for 8 days, and we didn’t eat there for dinner on quite a few occasions as we couldn’t face the meals and neither could our children. There should be different options each day. There should be a salad/veg/fruit bar available at all times to help yourselves, or to add to each meal to make the meals healthier. For breakfast you should be allowed to have healthy options as a meal, with toast available as well. Cutlery should not be plastic for adults at the very least.
