Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter

This hotel is lovely, the atmosphere is cozy, the staff are insanely helpful and the vibe is immaculate. Port Orleans French Quarter would be a perfect Disney hotel for any family with a manageable size and easy transportation to Disney Parks and more. The pool is very beautiful with a slide perfect for all and a fun splashed, the lifeguards are very attentive and helpful at all times (with roughly 8 lifeguards supervising the pool at all times). This hotel also allows for easy transportation by boat to Disney Springs and Riverside. We stopped in Building 2 which is the perfect place, directly next to the pool and Boat Dock. The only small problem is that the housekeeping is a bit tricky as it can be done at awkward times such as 6,7 O'Clock. And can sometimes be done not to the best standards.

French Quarter was smaller than riverside in Port Orleans and work very well overall due to this. Pro’s Buses - one stop to get to parks. Never too busy bar two reasons, 1 being preempted and two MK buses rolled up for one morning slot. Resort mugs , had with our package saved loads. Dining plan for quick service, worked really well for us but is a downside. Again got in our U.K. based booking. Location, well placed for all parks and springs. Staff in the main. Cons Buses - never enough put on for peak return times from parks, E.G. post fireworks. Longer waits compared to other hotels but the pro ‘s might be the reasons. Busses to water parks. No direct bus makes zero sense. Dinning plan, why can you not swap adult meals to kids meals. Not everyone wants to pig out on the 75% fast fatty food on offer. Also when you have meals credits, you should be able to swap those to snakes. We had loads left over and server said he would get in trouble putting snakes through as meals and no option to swap. So we literately binning food to get drinks . Total waste Disney and you’re trying to promote recycling and sustainability. Well your policies, process and systems don’t live up to that view. Restaurant staff management l. Poor, don’t bother ordering a birthday Mickey Some cake here. Ruined wife’s birthday surprise. Ordered a week in advance any they never put the order in. Not there anymore n the morning. Then after looking around and saying that riverside hadn’t sent it, the manageress said she could get it that day but I explained we were out all day so do not bother, they then charged my room for the cake after the details the manager Robi took were used as the lady didn’t listen. Only glade I went to complained lain to the front desk later that day as there is no opposite to a cast compliment in the app, the chat service said talk to the desk. They must have wipe the charge as was zeroed out when checking on check out as showed. The manager at the front desk when I asked to make sure we were not charged and no the cake was no longer wanted as we source another in Disney springs , must have arranged some snacks with a mug that were left in the room with a birthday message which did put a smile on my wife’s face after the ruined morning. Restaurant is too small and not enough table and chairs. No outside social areas other than a few park benches. Nothing near the rooms. Weird room layout. Cons always seem to take up more text. Overall great choice to stay. Nice staff in general, great facilities and location. Not perfect but what is?

Stayed 12th-26th July for the second time in 7 years and once again it was magical. We were made very welcome on arrival and shown to our room 2138 which was very close to reception and right at the pool which was excellent as we had our 2 year old Granddaughter with us. The rooms were spotless and very spacious with huge comfortable beds, the dinning room could be a little overcrowded at times and noted on a few occasions 1 girl serving food on her own as 3 others just watched something management should put right. Bus and boat service to parks is still exceptional as is the whole resort layout and gardens with very friendly staff. I was very happy with the overall experience at the French Quarter. The rooms are freshly renovated and I great condition. The hotel was finishing up the renovation in the last building during our stay so they should be finished by now as well. The rooms were Disney standard but modern and without carpet which is a big plus. There could be more hanging space for clothing but it is what it is I suppose. The property itself is nice and small which I appreciated as the ways are short to and from the bus stops for example. The staff was Disney friendly and helpful especially when we were not as happy with the first choice of rooms that we got (different from what we asked for). They were very professional and fixed the issue. The pool area was great as they have a few sun umbrellas, which not every Disney hotel has. All in all I think we’d come back anytime.

Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter is one of those hidden gems you almost don’t want to tell anyone about… because it’s that special. It’s a resort with soul, and it never feels overcrowded or chaotic — just relaxing and welcoming. This is the smallest of Disney’s moderate resorts, which means everything is incredibly walkable. No 15-minute hikes to the lobby or pool — everything is just a few steps away. The layout is compact and charming, with beautiful landscaping and plenty of places to stroll or sit and soak in the ambiance. ⸻ 🛏️ Rooms The rooms were recently refurbished and are clean, comfortable, and nicely themed without being over-the-top. You’ll find queen beds, solid water pressure in the shower, and enough space for a small family or couple. They’re not luxurious like deluxe resorts, but they absolutely meet the mark for a moderate stay — and the peaceful setting more than makes up for any simplicity. ⸻ 🏊 Pool & Amenities The Doubloon Lagoon pool is a standout for families. It features a sea serpent water slide, a splash pad for little ones, and fun Mardi Gras alligator statues that keep the theming alive. There’s also a dry playground right nearby. The pool water can feel a little warm during hot summer days, but it’s still a great spot to unwind. Plus, the resort shares amenities with Port Orleans Riverside, just a short walk or boat ride away, so you can switch things up during your stay. ⸻ 🍽️ Dining Don’t underestimate the Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory food court. It’s got more personality than most quick-service spots, with New Orleans–inspired dishes alongside Disney staples. The pizza here is surprisingly good (especially for theme park pizza), and the highlight of it all? The Mickey-shaped beignets. Light, fluffy, and loaded with powdered sugar, they’re made fresh — and you can even get a boozy version for adults. A must-try! There’s also a pool bar (Mardi Grogs) with drinks and snacks for adults needing a little extra vacation fuel. ⸻ 🚤 Transportation While there’s no monorail or Skyliner here, the boat ride to Disney Springs is a true highlight — peaceful, scenic, and a perfect way to unwind after a long park day. It’s a given that you will always pay more at Disney, but it has reached the point of just ridiculousness. I’m happy to spend more, when what I’m getting feels worth it in some form (Whether it’s location, amenities, cleanliness or food etc.) However, This place fell massively short in every area. All I will say is that some staff members were extremely lovely. They are fortunate for their staff. But for the price, the hotel itself is no better than a glorified motel. The pool is not big enough for the size of the resort, there is a lack of shaded areas at the pool for those with young families. Free water is warm, or 5-6 dollars for a bottle. Without a refill cup, be prepared to spend hundreds on drinks and basic food in a day or so. Service and food quality at the food court is slow and sloppy. It may be that I went in July, but the impression I have is that it is Disney prices, but not a disney experience like it once was. Universal and their hotels are leagues ahead. Without the free waterpark day, It is just not worth it at all.
