Top Twelve Hotel - Lalibela

Boutique hotel with special character, great view at the valley and friendly owner. The room was spacious, the bed big and comfy, the view spectacular. There was hot water at all times. The breakfast offered and the lunch options were delicious but not many. It also has a small souvenir shop. Quite pricey as also the whole Lalibela.

My stay in Top Twelve Hotel was memorable. The hotel is located along a cliff offering the best view on the valley and outstanding sunsets. The breakfast on the terrace was simple, tasty and plentiful with home brewed Ethiopian coffee, omelet, local bread and honey. The hotel is warmly decorated with local colours and furniture.  My room was spacious with a private balcony and soothing view. The room was quiet, bed was comfortable, water pressure was not great but enough to shower with continous hot water. The hotel is at walking distance  from the outstanding Ben Abeba restaurant. Dawit and Yordanos are very nice and responsive hosts. They did their best to make my stay memorable, including the organisation of private guided tours in Lalibela and around.

This is a lovely small hotel (maybe 10 rooms) with an amazing view over the valley. The rooms are large and clean. The staff are amazing. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They could not have done more for us. The menu was limited but the food was delicious and well prepared. Their lentil soup was the best we had ever. We would recommend this gem of a hotel.

I had a three day pre-paid reservation at this hotel. Flights into Lalibela were all canceled due to the military conflict in the area. The hotel would not cancel the reservation or refund the money.

Lastly, they helped us organize a tour of Lalibela with Tade (Tadesse Tenaw). He has to be the best guide in Lalibela! He was the main reason our time was so enjoyable. Tade knew lots of people throughout the town, was able to answer every and any question about the town, churches, and Ethiopian culture. He also helped organize random requests such as having traditional coffee, substituting the car for a Tuk Tuk/rickshaw, visiting the Saturday market, adding/subtracting things we were interested in. He also seemed to take us to more places other tourists were not going to be able to attend the Sunday mass or see more of the churches, tunnels, etc. Highly recommend Tade as well!

We recently visited Lalibela and we spend 3 nights and 4 days there. We were received with a huge hospitality and the entire staff were friendly,easy going and very much welcoming. We effectively used the time we had visiting all hewen churches in lalibela, travelling to Yimerhanekirstos monastry ,and the most splendid one was our visit to 'Hudad' which was a true adventure(we recommend this to someone who likes hiking and not afraid of heights). We used our last day to visit Neakutole'ab monastry on our way back to the airport. It was such an amazing and beautiful experience and we recommend you to contact Melese who was the best tour guide we had as per the recommendation of the hotel owner(which we are grateful for). In terms of room,the rooms are exactly as the pictures you see here,very neat and a remarkable view! Food,as it was the fasting season for us, we had limited choices but we had a very nice ethiopian stew called "shiro" and we also tried sphagetti and both were good.
