Calabash Hotel

Just back from a superb 10 days at this wonderful, relaxing hotel. We stayed on a bed & breakfast basis in a junior suite. The suite was well appointed with plenty of storage and a huge bathroom/shower room. Housekeeping was excellent with some nice little touches; the turn down service & towel art for my husband’s birthday. The hotel is in a lovely garden setting but also with the beach in view. We did the tour with head gardener Terence & Shakeem which was very interesting. It took us up the hill & we had a wonderful view of the hotel and bay. The original plan was to eat out a few times but we ended up doing that only once!!! The food in both restaurants was excellent; we did find the Thursday night menu in the Beach Club a bit limited for our palate. Breakfast on the balcony was a lovely service and worked well if you were going on a trip. Overall the staff were outstanding; friendly, helpful and made us feel very much at home. Particular praise for Abigail, George, Miguel, Sherilyn, Melissa and Elle. On the hotel website there is a pre arrival form. I would recommend filling that out even if you haven’t booked direct with the hotel. We hope to return again.

Nous sommes arrivés pour la première fois à Grenade au Calabash, et avons été séduits dès l’arrivée par le charme de cet hôtel. La grande pelouse avec ces arbustes aux fleurs éclatantes, les bungalows avec une jolie vue sur la mer, la petite plage au sable clair, au bord de l’anse animée de bateaux, le restaurant Beach club avec sa vue parfaite pour le petit déjeuner… la pergola qui recouvre le restaurant Rhodes est fleurie de grandes grappes de fleurs blanches étonnantes, ravissantes. Un iguane vert se promène parfois en mangeant les fleurs, des colibris butinent dans les massifs… le jardin est très bien entretenu, la plage balayée le matin, il y a toujours beaucoup de transats libres quand vous arrivez à la plage… Le soir, piano ou saxophone donnent une ambiance chaleureuse au dîner. Et puis, le personnel est très souriant, serviable. Il y’a beaucoup de petites attentions qui font luxe: une bouteille de rhum offerte à l’arrivée, avec des cookies dans la chambre, on vous apporte des verres de jus de fruit quand vous êtes allongés sur les transats au bord de la mer, des bouchées apéritives dans votre chambre à 18h, pour accompagner votre rhum…. Tout ça contribue a l’impression d’être reçus et gâtés. Je vais tout de même trouver un défaut pour être crédible: il n’y a pas de prise pour le sèche cheveux dans la salle de bain…

The staff is fantastic. Food quality is high. The property is beautiful. It's the staff that makes this hotel a cut above.

One of the most beautiful and friendliest hotels we’ve ever been to. Everything was perfect and the staff went beyond to make our stay a fantastic one. The restaurants were undeniably some of the best on the island, and the suites were so nice, we had a balcony overlooking the grounds which were immaculately kept. I celebrated my birthday there and we had a beautiful table set on the jetty. Thank you so much.

Exceeded all expectations A fabulous 10 days staying at Calabash. Everything was exceptional from the staff to the food. We are already looking forward to returning to the resort. We visited a couple of the other major hotels but they were soulless in comparison to the Calabash which feels much more intimate and exclusive. Everybody in Grenada seems so genuinely happy and friendly even when away from the hotel.

Going to the Calabash is like coming home. It is absolutely the most remarkable place. You are treated as if you were the most consequential guest. Your preferences are remembered on repeat visits. The rooms are wonderful, the food is great, the staff is fantastic, the beach is lovely. The accolades are never ending and well deserved. Grenada is a beautiful island and the Calabash family works hard to make your visit especially lovely. The spa was also enjoyed by our group. Leaving the hotel, various members of our group took a cooking class at Home Hospitality which was great fun; some went on a rainforest hike and visited Crater Lake and the monkeys, and of course there had to be a snorkeling visit to Flamingo Bay and the underwater sculpture garden (which is better seen by diving), and a tour of the chocolate museum. All of this was arranged by the Calabash staff. We can't wait to return!!
