"When closing my door, it did not lock behind me. This meant people could access my room without a key. I reported this in the morning but nothing was done about it. This made me feel very unsafe and worried about my belongings (Room 106). This room is also directly beside the smokers area so people can look in through the window. FYI there are no staff after 14:00 - if you want to arrive after then, you'll be messaged instructions on how to get in."

"We went to this hotel based on the reviews on this platform, but were disappointed. The room turned out to be very small and did not have a 'hundreds of years old' feeling at all (which the hotel likes to convey). They had tried to create the historic feeling with a chandelier, self-made dark green cabinets and some old photos, but in vain. Also the bathroom was very small and impractical. Previous reviews mentioned a nice breakfast buffet, but we received a tier with two small croissants, four rolls, and two coffee biscuits (to be divided by 2), 1 jar of fruit that was no longer fresh, 1 jar of yoghurt, some cheese, charcuterie, 1 jar of jam (cannot be chosen),... You could order an extra egg and that was it. There was no bacon or anything like that. I now assume that you could ask for additional things, but for 20.00 euros per person this was a very meager breakfast. A week later we stayed at Hotel Van der Valk Middelburg, also four stars, and then you wonder why this hotel received four stars. The only advantage seems to us to be its location in the center of Leiden. One last comment: we paid the full price of 23.50 euros (24 hours) for the hotel's parking garage, which is located in a nearby street, despite the fact that we did not arrive until after noon."
