The Inn at Lathones

Only had one night stay here with my husband and two dogs . We found the room lovely and the bed very comfortable . It also supplied a kettle with coffee , tea and biscuits . Staff were very friendly and informative when booking into the hotel . We did not eat in the restaurant but did have a drink which the receptionist kindly offered to bring out to us as we opted to sit outside in the evening sun , she also brought a few treats out for our dogs which went down well . We also found the duty manager Mike extremely helpful and friendly ,we will certainly would go back and stay as we found it great value for money to be only six minutes drive from St Andrews.

Lots of positives. Very nice spacious room and bathroom with sufficient plugs and kettle and coffee maker supplied. Staff very friendly and chatty and helpful. Good range of dishes in restaurant with food served promptly and was well presented and well cooked. Decent wine list and drinks list. Nice well stocked bar with good range of whisky and beer. Good breakfast with a lot of choices and options and all served promptly and warm(hate cold toast but here it was warm and fresh). Staff at evening meal and breakfast attentive and helpful but not overly so Small negatives such as water pressure for shower and toilet flush slightly low . Wash hand basin in bathroom slightly cracked. Extra towels would be handy rather than 1 medium towel each. Option for an extra couple pillows for those who like to sit up in bed to read. Would be nice if bar stayed open a bit later especially as we chose to have our evening meal at end of their restaurant reservation times Overall a lovely overnight stay birthday treat and will go back again soon. Would be an ideal place to stay for a couple nights for those touring Scotland or UK as would be a good base to explore hundreds of wonderful places and tourist attractions etc Do give them a visit, you will have a relaxing fun time

We visited the hotel some years ago and went back for a short break. The hotel itself is a wee bit tired and in need of some upgrades. We had a lovely room with an outside seating area which was great as was the bed. The floor however creaked loudly. Any faults were mitigated by the wonderful staff and the great food. The chef deserves a special mention as he caters so well for those with allergies. We would certainly visit again.

Not a great welcome at reception on arrival. Chap from reception then served us in the bar later & at breakfast. He did not have the best interpersonal skills. The remainder of the staff were lovely! The food was very good & the chef managed to cater for my intolerances. We had a superior double bedroom on the ground floor , looking out onto a farm, which was lovely. However, the balcony is in need of attention. The fencing was very unstable & needs replacing, any weight on it & you'd fall into field. Some bedrooms back onto the main road, these would be very noisy.

Just back from a stay at The inn of Lathones and can’t praise the staff enough, friendly, attentive and efficient. Had breakfast and dinner ( for 21 people) which was handled spot on, meals were lovely and with a very quick service! Mick helped sort my 84 year old dad out with a light lunch before my son’s wedding and I’m very grateful for him doing so. Nothing seemed to much trouble! Thank to all the staff for a lovely stay, hope we’ll be back again. Ann Ramage, family and friends

Nice rooms around the courtyard but the bathrooms could do with a refurb Sorry but I have to report the Saturday Evening meal as awful: bullet hard peas, chewey pasta and the fish couldn’t be eaten. The wine list is extremely limited and sadly, the staff ( only two of them, trying to do everything so I am loathe to criticise), were not familiar with the wine that was there, couldn’t find it, then eventually after a long wait, brought us the wrong one. In a way it was quite funny- but the bill wasn’t! It in no way reflected the poor quality of the meal. Very disappointing- we’d say, don’t eat here, go to the tavern at strathkiness or the boar at auchtymuchty - neither of which could be faulted on service, quality or price. Just being honest
