"Honestly, 'The Street Where the Wind Dwells' B&B is the most comfortable and genuinely hospitable place I've ever stayed in Lijiang! The location is absolutely fantastic! It's nestled in a quiet alley right by the Old Town, just a few minutes' walk to all the lively spots, yet incredibly peaceful at night – you won't hear a peep. The rooms genuinely feel upscale! We booked the 'Stargazer Room', and through its huge glass window, you get panoramic views of the Old Town rooftops. At night, you can even see the stars – enjoying the night view while soaking in the tub was pure bliss. But the absolute highlight was the owner, Brother Ma – he's incredibly warm and genuine! The moment we arrived at the alley entrance, he jogged out from afar to help us with our luggage. As soon as we stepped inside, he offered us tea – not just out of politeness, but he genuinely chatted with us, sharing tips on authentic local restaurants and small pubs with a great vibe. Even when we came back late at night, we'd often find him in the courtyard, chatting and having tea with other guests. It truly felt like coming home to family. On our departure day, he even gave us some of his homemade cherry wine, saying, ”Come back next time for another drink, and remember the wind of Lijiang!” His words truly warmed my heart. This B&B offers a much more authentic and enjoyable experience than a typical hotel. If I ever return to Lijiang, I'll definitely be staying at 'The Street Where the Wind Dwells' again!"

"The room is excellent and is at end of a valley, which make it very peaceful and quiet to rest. Also around 5-10mins from northeast entrance. The mattress got heater and the room and environment was very classic making them so photogenic. The host is responsive and nice to help us carry our heavy bags to the room. Definitely recommended"

"The location of the B&B is very good, right in the ancient city. The room is very clean, large and spacious, which is very rare. You can add an extra bed. The rooms in other B&Bs in the ancient city are very small. The owner and the proprietress are very nice and welcoming. There is a platform for taking photos and checking in on the roof of the B&B. You can see the whole ancient city. The scenery is very good! Very good treasure B&B"

"My wife and I visited Lijiang for the first time, and our stay at this place truly enhanced our trip. The location is incredibly convenient for exploring the Old Town. The panoramic views overlooking the Old Town are simply breathtaking. In the evenings, after a stroll back from the bar street, we'd sit on the viewing platform for a bit, enjoying a beer with my wife and watching the city lights twinkle below. While the music from the bar street can be quite lively, you won't hear a thing once you're inside your room (personally verified in Room 216!). Breakfast is provided. On our check-out day, I spent a blissful hour and a half enjoying breakfast on the viewing platform, just completely lost in thought. The photos I've shared were taken during that time. And now, for the most important part! If you're visiting for the first time, definitely contact the owner beforehand. They'll help with your luggage and even pick you up at the main road to ensure you don't get lost. These aren't amenities you'd necessarily expect, but the owner thoughtfully arranged them all. The owner also recommended and arranged an Ancient Tea Horse Road tour, which was fantastic! It included round-trip transfers, and the owner even personally took us to the pick-up point – I honestly wouldn't have found the meeting point without him. He also helped us book a shared shuttle to Lugu Lake. There are so many other thoughtful details, but I won't list them all here. Seriously, just add him on WeChat!"

"Having Afei's help was the highlight of our stay at Songzhuju. We don't speak Chinese, but Afei was happy to communicate with us through WeChat and Translation apps to check in on us, coordinate the booking of activities and recommend shows, restaurants, souvenir options, etc. Afei was quick to assist us when we were a little confused about locations, when we were feeling unwell from altitude of our mountain day trip; and when we needed to reschedule timing of activities. The location is excellent; approximately 100m walk to the North Gate which is the meeting point for all our Didi pickups and dropoffs. It is right in the hub of Old Town so it's so easy to explore on foot and very safe. There were a mix of travellers staying at this accommodation; including people who could communicate in Chinese and also people who couldn't. We were in the Luxury Queen room. Our room was exactly what we needed for our stay in Lijiang. It was on the upper level which is just one flight of stairs up; with large windows looking down to the lovely courtyard. Tea on arrival, Complimentary Breakfast (traditional food: rice noodle soup, cracker, fruit, sweet potato) and complimentary pick up from airport (included with our room type) was so appreciated and made our Lijiang trip nice and smooth. There is a washing machine and dryer which we made use of during our stay; and there is a coffee shop attached to the accommodation as well. Thank you so much Afei for all your help in making our experience and this accommodation so memorable for us."

"This homestay really didn't disappoint me. The decoration style is the type I like. The flowers and plants in the yard and the decoration of the room are very distinctive. Traveling around is also very convenient, the boss is also very good, and any needs will be met as much as possible. Brothers and sisters come to Lijiang to choose his home."

"Pros: the garden and grounds were photogenic. The area was located near the top of the hilly ancient city. The hotel had amazing service, helping us book an affordable shared bus ride to Dali. Clean bedsheets. Cons: although the hotel looks good in photos, it is old and shabby and not taken care of. Lots of peeling paint and mold growing in the bathroom. There was a small desk, but in the corner and on the floor. Everything is trying to be Japanese style, but it’s not comfortable for someone like me who is tall and used to western and Chinese style. Also, I don’t need a sink in the entry way. A table or chair would make a lot more sense. I stayed in July and it really does need air conditioning because the morning sun and thin walls make the room incredibly hot in the morning and daytime. There were fans but I only used one because the other was covered in dust. It’s a shame I have to write a bad review because the place is cute on the outside and has potential to be much better."

"This homestay is located approx 8 mins walk from the Lijiang 古镇, though a little far but the service and the staff at the homestay made it an excellent choice to stay in. They had a rooftop level for enjoying breakfast, afternoon tea and evening snack while facing the snow mountain. Service is impeccable and you really feel warmth and care throughout the stay. View from my room was superb too! When they know I had to go out early the next day and can't have breakfast, they even made sure to pack some food for me to have on my day tour out. I left the place with my heart full and feeling so cared for. I'll definitely come back to stay at this homestay if I'm back in Lijiang!"

"I absolutely loved the guesthouse's overall decor and ambiance, especially their charming little garden. It was incredibly relaxing to just sit there and sip tea. As for cleanliness, the 'Ayi' (cleaning lady) tidied up every day. The rooms even came with a humidifier and an air purifier – such thoughtful touches! Big thumbs up 👍🏻. Xiao Lu and Long Ge were incredibly welcoming and helpful. They not only assisted us in planning our itinerary but also recommended amazing local eateries. They even enthusiastically invited us to a bar to hang out – so much fun! 😂 And last but certainly not least, out of all my past accommodation experiences, their breakfast was hands down the best I've ever had! Seriously, my main motivation to wake up early every morning was to enjoy the delicious rice noodles prepared by the 'Ayi'! I stayed for several days and happily ate it every single morning, haha. Oh, and their pickled radishes are also incredibly tasty! The breakfast is clearly made with so much care and offers a great variety. If you're visiting, you absolutely *must* try their breakfast."

"I am very satisfied with the room! If I come to Lijiang again, I will definitely book it again! Being able to choose this room really adds extra points to this trip! My companions have been praising me for choosing a good one! Service: We arrived very late that day, but there was still a special car to pick us up, and there was also a special housekeeper to help us transport from the car to the homestay, which was super considerate! Sanitation: The sanitation is very clean. As a person who travels frequently, it is really nice to have such a sanitation service experience at such a price! Facilities: The facilities are very complete, and the heating will be turned on in advance in winter! It is super warm when you enter the room! Service: The service is amazing! There are housekeepers and aunties 24 hours a day. If you want to wash clothes, you can talk to the housekeeper or aunt, and they will help you wash and dry the clothes and send them to your room at night [Such service is really considerate, so you can go out and play with peace of mind]"
