Summerfield Pub & Boutique Rooms

Was ok location great Wasn’t the cleanest But was nice enough Would stay again

My very strong advice is to avoid staying at the Summerfield unless you are deaf. I paid £595 for a week’s accommodation. I managed 4 sleep deprived nights. The rooms are above the very lively bar with “live entertainment” (amplified pub singers with backing tracks of hits from the 50s to the 80s) and an extended licence allowing them to stay open until midnight at weekends. This noise - as well as the shouted conversations of drinkers - booms loudly up through the floor, making it impossible to sleep, watch TV, read or anything. They don’t actually empty the bar until about 1 am, when the final Millwall supporters wander off. Monday night was quieter with few customers. Tuesday the music in the bar was very loud and conversations were shouted again. The bar staff were very nice when I complained. It wasn’t their fault. They weren’t going to turn down the music and tell their customers to pipe down. It’s just that the concept of a hotel room directly above a very noisy South London pub just doesn’t work. I know. It’s a pub and I should have known better. This morning I kissed my money goodbye and just left the keys in the box. Don’t make the same mistake.

Avoid unless you’re deaf. Racket from over-amplified pub singers with backing tracks and shouted conversations booming up from the bar directly below my room made it impossible to sleep, watch TV, read or anything else before 1am when the last drinkers leave. I paid for 7 nights. I left after 4 very broken, tortured nights. Shame because the bed was comfortable and the decor nice enough. Bar staff very nice but powerless to do anything about the noise. The accommodation simply doesn’t work.
