The Laslett

A lovely boutique hotel within seconds from the tube. Location wise is perfect for us since we wanted some quaint Notting hill stores and portobello markets walks. Many cafes restaurants and pubs around. Staff was super friendly and the rooms are perfectly sized for London… not too small. Would come back again.

This is my second review for my home away from home in London, near my daughter's place as well as all the shops and restaurants of Notting Hill and elegance of Holland Park. Less than a block walk to Notting Hill Gate tube station. Don't overlook the lobby cafe - wonderful coffees, breakfast (including a coffee-and-cake-of-the-day special) and an easy place to grab a cocktail or dinner. My room on the 1st floor (2nd floor for us Americans) was well laid out, immaculate, and well-equipped (bar, umbrella, adapter, healthy snacks, etc.). As always, a friendly and professional staff - there was a huge festival going on in Notting Hill during my stay, but the Laslett team and lobby were calm and serene. If you need to be in or near Notting Hill, this is the best place to stay.

I was willing to overlook the spotty service. The fact that, “included with room” requests were just “ forgotten” or sitting down for breakfast at 10:45, getting no service, and then after asking twice, being told that I missed it because it ended at 11..I even forgave the leaking shower, cheap finishes and room that felt staged rather than actually cres ed for a guest to stay in. But then I realized they had checked me into a lower class of room than what I booked and paid for. An actual in the basement room with no air or light. I assumed the issue was with the 3rd party booking, but after trying to work it out 2x with the front desk, they told me i needed to take it up with the booker, but refused to provide any information or share with me what had been booked ( lying and saying it was “illegal” to show me my booking- which i confirmed it was not) They provided no help, told me a manager wasn’t available to talk to me until after my checkout date and proceeded to act in the worst sort of fake, passive aggressive “service” way that demonstrated that they really did not care to help or untangle the issue.This approach of lying to and treating the customer as if they dont matter or shouldn’t get what they pre paid for is unacceptable. The fact that they wouldn’t provide me with the information needed to work it out with the booker clearly showed that they knew they had messed up. Their attitude was unhelpful, smarmy and patronizing. I travel a lot and love hotels. This place, despite its nice location, is all fake surface, 2 star service, no customer care and a level of passive aggressiveness that shows they could care less about their guests. They could have easily shown me what was booked on my behalf. They chose not to. If I could give it no stars I would. Very bad experience.
