I recently stopped by the beautiful St. Regis Longboat Key while in the area, hoping to say hello to someone I met during a previous stay at the W in Fort Lauderdale — and I’m so glad I did! Candice Torchia, who made such a wonderful impression on us during our stay, is now the Director of Front Office of the St. Regis, thrilled she played a key role in opening this stunning new property. She’s truly perfect for the position — professional, warm, and such a credit to the St. Regis brand. My timing couldn’t have been better — not only did I get to catch up with Candice, but I was also just in time for Sabrage, the signature St. Regis evening ritual where a champagne bottle is opened with a saber to celebrate the transition from day to night, it's a very special moment! As I was leaving, I remembered the Monkey Bar and the off-menu cocktail I loved from New Year's — the Royal Tropics — which wasn’t listed when I returned in February. To my surprise and delight, the team was happy to make it again for me. The Monkey Bar remains a favorite — a perfect beach setting, great food, and we especially loved the themed staff shirts when we stayed there earlier this year. Before heading out, I asked where I might be able to purchase one of the Monkey Bar shirts for my husband. That’s when Jeff, a manager, went above and beyond. Even though the shop had just closed, he kindly made it happen and introduced me to Maria, the Spa Manager. Maria graciously brought me into the gift shop, and I left with not just the shirt but also the beautifully themed pool inner tube for my son’s pool! Huge thanks to Jeff, Maria, Candice, and the entire St. Regis team — you continue to embody the exceptional service and thoughtful touches that define the St. Regis experience. Can’t wait to return!
