North Star Beach Suites

We had a wonderful 2 night stay from August 18 - 20. Our room was beautifully decorated - so comfy and cozy - and the view from room 9 was outstanding! All staff treated us so well - Julie, our waitress in the Bothy at supper and the waitress in Coast for breakfast (I wish I could remember their names!), and, of course Colin and Justin. The food was fresh and delicious. As we “chowdered, and lobstered, and musseled” our way around Cape Breton Island, the best chowder we had was at the Bothy! The location was perfect with a lovely walk to the historic fortress of Louisbourg and a small, peaceful, swimmable beach. Overall, it is a lovely property in a lovely area of Nova Scotia. Thank you for your hospitality!

We arrived at the North Star Beach Suites with a group of eight people and two dogs and were immediately met with a warm welcome, seamless organization, and beautifully prepared accommodations. The suites themselves were thoughtfully detailed and very comfortable, but what truly took our breath away was the view: the town to our left, Fortress Louisburg to the right, and the Atlantic stretching out before us, framed by a low island and the Lighthouse. Simply exceptional. We were fortunate to enjoy two dinners in the Bothy hosted by what felt like the entire community. The atmosphere was lively, the staff were energetic and engaging, and everyone was clearly dedicated to creating a memorable experience. And they succeeded. Our first dinner was excellent, combining delicious food with attentive service. The second evening was even more remarkable: with the regular chef off, Justin stepped in and prepared a menu that exceeded expectations—including what we all agreed was the best seafood chowder in Nova Scotia. He also created a fully customized meal for a guest with significant dietary restrictions, which was a thoughtful and generous touch. From the stunning setting to the quality of the food, and most importantly the warmth, knowledge, and enthusiasm of the staff—along with the incredible hospitality of owners Justin and Colin—our experience at the North Star Beach Resort was nothing short of outstanding.

Unexpected treat! Wow! We explored Nova Scotia for 10 days and Louisbourg was one of our stops. Amazing what Colin and Justin have created here! Such a great vibe in all they did! Rooms are awesome and we only had a partial ocean view (19) but it was just perfect! Relaxing place and the evenings were so much fun at The BOTHY Restaurant! Not only delicious food but the entertainment was great and different each night! Highly recommend this “off the beaten path” spot! Hope to come back one day!

What a great place for a total getaway experience. The service, the location, the food, and the rooms are all first-rate. When you arrive, you are greeted by some very nice people. Very often even Justin or Colin will be there to say hello as well. Julie at reception was great, and she can tell you all things Louisbourg. The ocean front rooms are as good as advertised. Complete with all amenities, like small kitchen, appliances, extra bedding, temperature control, sitting area and an excellent bed, your comfort will be guaranteed. The "Bothy" dining hall is a great encounter with prompt and professional service, a great atmosphere and very good food and beverages. It is amazing how they have converted this older facility into a modern and full service resort. Your trip there will be trouble free and most certainly a very relaxing experience.

How to feel like family without being family is what relaxes you when staying and eating at the North Star Beach Suites in the tidy town of Louisbourg, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Owners Colin and Justin make you naturally feel at home with their super friendly personalities and wit. Any stresses or tension quickly evaporate while staying here. The premises are tastefully contemporary and being by the sea with an ocean breeze is all included. Dinner at the inn’s restaurant, The Bothy, rivals the region’s famous kitchen parties with its live music and any dancing shouldn’t come as a surprise. The owners meticulously attend their guests by being your servers for the evening, and you might even get a song out of Justin. Breakfast also has its owners as your servers before you head down the road to the famous French Fortress of Louisbourg that’s figuratively within spitting distance.

Located in sleepy Louisbourg this holiday destination is a quaint location for a lovely chill out. Surrounded by history and fabulous views it’s a nice place to visit on Cape Breton. The rooms have an excellent view of this. Spacious rooms but the bathroom could have a little loving. The Bothy, located on the grounds of the hotel is a must. The owners, Justin and Colin, are there meeting and greeting people, as well as sometimes serving you delicious food. For a seafood enthusiast, the mussels are a must.
