"A stone’s throw from the train station, just inside the old city walls lies the beautifully renovated Grand Universe Lucca, Autograph Collection hotel. Our family of 3 had a wonderful 5 night stay here over Christmas. Antonia, Maria & the entire team went out of their way by preparing a birthday surprise for my son, and we had a Christmas treat lying in our room on the evening of 24th Dec. Breakfast was personalized, with staff recalling our favorite drinks, each of us being greeted warmly and someone checking multiple times to see that we had everything we needed. Our rooms were cleaned thoroughly every single day, including turn down service on Christmas Eve, when the service came with cookies- which was a real pleasure. Highly recommend a stay here. Needless to say Lucca itself is a beautiful, unspoilt city - which retains its small city charm. We had a Christmas market & live music just outside the hotel and were able to walk around the city walls with residents each morning in the bright sunshine. Lucca is also within easy reach of a number of other places- Pisa, Florence, Viareggio, Cinque Terre, making it a great pit stop. Arrivederci e grazie Lucca & Grand Universe!"

"We loved our stay at Preziosa as it's a beautiful and historic villa and a very special place to stay. The attention to detail is what makes this such a great experience and the hosts Barbara and Gunther are lovely and really go the extra mile to make sure you have a wonderful time. The rooms are gorgeous, with handpainted frescos on the wall and comfortable, proper, large double beds. We were lucky enough to stay in the Royal Suite and it is the most fabulous room overlooking the garden so I highly recommend this if you are celebrating a special occasion. The Villa is in a quiet spot with a beautiful garden and pool and as it only accomodates a small number of guests then it feels very chilled out and it is a great place to relax and unwind. Breakfast includes buffet and cooked options and it is served in the garden under the shade. Then in the afternoon they offer a light lunch and serve cocktails and drinks. On a practical note I really liked that the bathroom had a good quality hairdryer, magnifying mirror and hair straighteners as it means I didn't have to bring these with me. 5 stars for sure!"

"I love this adorable b&b. Super close to Via Fillungo for shopping and right in the heart of this beautiful walled city. So many bars and restaurants very close. The owners are so lovely and I did not want for anything. Breakfast was delicious with eggs cooked your way. Some meats and cheeses and cereals. Plenty to eat and great coffee. You get a discount on the Puccini opera if you book through the hotel and I heartily recommend you go. I went three times."
