Pelagia Bay Hotel

I have just returned from another wonderful holiday here. I continue to enjoy the quiet location of this hotel, on the hillside with sweeping views over the fields to the crystal clear sea (you can see fish without a snorkel) with beautiful sunrise and sunsets.It is very relaxing. There are comfortable new sunbeds by the pool and everywhere was freshly painted and clean.The front of house team Yannis, Lucy and Stefano provide great service but equally important are the exceptional cleaning and dining staff. The hotel offers a small and friendly experience where guests socialise and the bar area has a nice atmosphere. Yannis serves up amazing cocktails and the bar prices are very reasonable.I enjoy the opportunity to meet people of all ages from all over Europe whilst there. I still hear people talk about the uphill walk from the beach but taxis are easy to obtain, also the steps within the hotel itself so when booking a holiday be sure to research such issues if they are a concern. Similarly with meal provision, being in the hotel you have very adequate half board options but if you budget to eat out a few times you can enjoy trying the local restaurants and bars too.There are many offering good value, I had tzatziki with pitta bread, a pitta with chicken souvlaki cubes and half a litre of house wine for 16 euros. Brilliant value.Be sure to be in the hotel for the greek night, the music and dancing are such fun and it is all part of the experience provided.Overall this hotel is clean, comfortable and offers excellent value for money.

This was our second visit to the hotel. We received a very warm welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel has such a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Beautiful beach and shops ten minutes walk away. We had a wonderful trip and will be back again next year.

Once again a return trip to Pelagia Bay and as always it didn’t disappoint. Weather was poor but this is the first time in April and to be fair it wasn’t the norm for Crete however this didn’t stop me from enjoying my stay Staff as always were friendly, helpful and looked after me as they always do. Es war meine erste Reise nach Kreta / Griechenland und ich habe es sehr genossen. Das Hotel hat eine günstige Lage. Auf kleinen Wanderungen kann man um Pelagia Bay Hotel auch ohne Auto kleine schöne Dinge entdecken. Bei weiteren Unternehmungen war stets das Hotelpersonal sehr hilfreich.

Een hotel met ontzettend vriendelijk personeel! Ze doen zo hun best om het je naar de zin te maken. Op de vraag of er een iets steviger kussen was, kregen we gelijk drie kussens om te proberen. Eten in buffetvorm is eenvoudig maar prima. Het hotel is een beetje gedateerd maar wordt elke dag keurig schoongehouden. Voor mensen die moeite hebben met traplopen is dit hotel iets minder geschikt. Omdat het tegen een heuvel aanligt, zijn er veel trappen. Prima prijs-kwaliteit verhouding en passend bij een driesterrenhotel. Wij hebben het goed gehad!

We have just returned from our 9 day stay at Pelagia Bay and fully enjoyed both the hotel and the region. Our hosts, Lucy and Yiannis, were excellent throughout our time and did all they could to ensure we had a wonderful holiday. On our arrival at 01:30 in the morning we were immediately put at ease with the greeting from Yiannis and offer of some cold dishes that he'd kept for us in the expectation we'd be hungry after travelling. This was the benchmark for the rest of our stay, along with Lucy they always put the interests of guests first and set the friendly feel that we experienced throughout with consistent courtesy & authentic customer service. Our room was comfortable with no-frills and very clean with daily maid service, who deserve a mention. We struggled a little for wardrobe space (for a family of four) and certain aspects were looking a little worn (ie. the bathroom would benefit from an upgrade) but the space was perfect with a table for our epic Uno matches(!) and the balcony was the largest we have enjoyed in any hotel we've stayed - enabling us to follow the sun throughout the day. Given that we were probably the furthest distance from the Reception area, we expected Wifi to be poor - but were pleased to find that our technological needs were capably met at most times! The pool area was very tidy with sunloungers that are much more superior than you'd expect for a 3 star rated hotel. While the water temperature was a little bracing, the swimming pool itself was fabulous and never busy (I cannot say if this would be the case at peak times), with the paddle-pool a particular favourite for our little one. Views across the wonderful Cretan countryside and across to the sea were a fabulous complement to our morning breakfast and evening dinner in the terrace area. We all found the food to be sufficiently wide-ranging and to a decent quality, such that we never had the same meal for the entirety of our stay. Particular favourites were the kebabs, moussaka, barbecued chicken and several pork dishes - along with pleasant greek salad options and lovely (but limited) desserts. There was always pasta or potato variations available in the evening and cereals, croissants, eggs, sausage / bacon (+ pizza which made our 6yr old happy) for breakfast. We dined well each day and reflect upon good food and excellent service from the Restaurant team (who did a stirling job to keep stocks replenished). Agia Pelagia is a pleasant, albeit small, resort in a gorgeous bay with unparalled clear water. We found enough local walks around the headland and inland to occupy us over the 9-days, with a visit to Heraklion on market day (Saturday) which is definitely worth the bus fare (4 Euros) and boarded adjacent to the 'Out of the Blue' hotel. Certainly there are gradients to get to and from the main town and hills that surround the immediate locality, which merit consideration if you have mobility issues - but should not be a reason to discount
