Before we arrived, we wondered why a B&B that's not exactly in Chile's biggest tourist area would cost so much per night. Now we think it's way too cheap! Family Orchard Bed & Breakfast is indeed only a bit fancier than what you'd imagine Paradise to be. But it's also more than enough. You drive from the boring highway through a gigantic fruit plantation, and then you arrive at the well-shielded building that houses the guest rooms. The hosts live in another house. The rooms are nicely decorated with the best materials, plush towels and toiletries, good wifi - and a lovely common living room where you can make yourself a cup of coffee and buy some drinks and chips. Outside, there are large lawns where we sunbathed, garden furniture, small pools to sit in, birds chirping. The breakfast was lovely and plentiful, although not memorable. Why isn't there fresh fruit from the plantation, but watermelon from elsewhere? The only snake in paradise (but there has to be one) is that our ground-floor room was somewhat plagued by heavy footsteps in the room above. The ceilings are simply too thin.
