Mohonk Mountain House

Our family went for Sunday Brunch there. The food is good and is comparable to mid-range restaurants I have dined at. However, the cost is simply outrageous, $145 per adult, $73 per child. What person is able to eat $145 worth of buffet food in one meal? Even Peter Luger Steak House steaks don't cost that much.

I had high hopes for Mohonk Mountain House given its reputation, but unfortunately, my experience didn’t live up to the expectations. The grounds and views are undeniably beautiful, the lake, hiking trails, and historic architecture are stunning. However, the service and overall value fell short. For the price, I expected a much higher level of hospitality and attention to detail. The staff, while not rude, seemed disorganized and often inattentive. Basic requests took far too long, and there was a lack of clear communication throughout my stay. The dining experience was especially disappointing, food was mediocre at best, and the wait times were excessive despite having reservations. The room was outdated and not as clean or well-kept as it should be for the premium rate. Noise from the hallway and neighboring rooms made it hard to relax, and it felt like the charm of the property was being used to cover up a lack of actual care or upkeep. Overall, the natural setting is lovely, but the service, accommodations, and dining don’t justify the steep cost. I really wanted to love this place, but sadly, I left feeling underwhelmed and frustrated.

This resort is top notch and worth every dollar I spent! The service was fabulous and the resort itself is very well maintained. Due to the weather at the time I did spend more time indoors since it was very cold but there is plenty to do -top notch gym, spa, pool and many places to curl up with a good book in front of a fireplace -there are seating clusters all over the resort for reading which is so great. I have to mention the amazing food -I was there for 3 full days, 3 meals a day and I was never disappointed with the food offered and the food eaten. The dining room is beautifully situated with impressive mountain views -if there are only two of you there is a good chance you will be seated at a window -and the wait staff are impressive. If you want to really get away from it all -this is where to go!
