Lapa Rios Lodge

A rare mix of understated luxury and a truly authentic tropical forest location. Lapa Rios is in a glorious setting with wonderful well-appointed rooms and a delightful evening breeze. We had one minor maintenace issue and it was dealt with within minutes. Daily sightings of macaws, toucans, monkeys and more from the balcony. Every meal was delicious, there is a good wine selection and table service is excellent. It is an easy stroll to the beach, (we even saw a potoo) and there are gentle self guided trails from the lodge. The guides are super knowledgable and enthusiastic, the night walk and afternoon birding walks are not to be missed. We also took the boat trip to Corcovado which is expensive but worth every dollar; tapir, anteater, caiman and much more, a big thank you to Frank our guide from Lapa Rios. Without exception the staff were kind, courteous, nothing too much trouble and all keen to share their love and knowledge of the Osa Peninsula. We enjoyed an amazing 6 nights here, yet there was still so much more to see and experience we hope to return soon.

5 of us, 3 generations in two rooms for 5 nights. It was perfect. We had a Premium Villa, our family was in a Matalpa Villa. Both had extraordinary views, of the Ocean and interestingly sunrises, because of where Lapa Rios is situated on The Oso Peninsula. Food was delicious! We ate off both the regular and the plant based menus. We often had delicious cocktails. The fish offerings were cooked very well, as was everything else. We all loved their smoothies with breakfast! Particularly their Green Smoothie. We were all very active, on the Osa Trail Hike, the Night Walk (which was more like a hike), the Waterfall Hike, Early Bird Watching, we walked to the Beach twice, spent in their big pool, and each day, we hiked up those elevated walkways and stairs to be the lodge. The latter was really great exercise, several times a day, for us grandparents!! Along the way, we all saw all four Oso monkeys, iguanas and so many birds, and even a Fer-de-Lance curled up near the walkway;l. We also so a momma 2-toed sloth and her baby! The staff were extraordinary. In the dining room we loved Sandra, in the bar. Will was delightful. Jeffrey was incredible on the Bird watch and hikes, and Emerzan was the manager who made all of our wishes come true., We all signed up for Zip-Lining and Waterfall Rappelling. And two of us had incredible massages with Adrianna. What a delightful time we all had a Lapa Rios

Lapa Rios is one of the most magical and amazing places we have been to and stayed at. Everyone working there is so friendly, kind and helpful. The guides and tours are excellent. Our room was very comfortable and the laid back atmosphere is great. The location is simply stunning. We cannot wait to return to Lapa Rios, as the birdlife and wildlife you see there, and in the area, is second to none. Our 4 night stay was the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica, which says a lot, as we had an amazing two weeks travelling around and loving everywhere we went. A wonderful country, with wonderful people.

das hotel ist eigentlich toll gelegen, die inbegriffenen touren sind gut. was ein bisschen gewöhnungsbedürftig ist, sind die räume ohne fensterscheiben, sondern nur mit fliegengittern. da die maschen relativ gross sind und die türrahmen grosse lücken haben (room 6). daher ist lesen im bett nach sonnenuntergang schwierig… das essen gehört zum besten was wir in den letzten 14 tagen costa rica hatten. das personal ist top!!

An exquisite few days in this rainforest resort. We loved the tours, although be prepared to get very hot and sweaty! The trail hike was special. The food was lovely, as was the homemade craft beer, and the service very attentive. The suite was spacious and well equipped. Thanks Lapa Rios! Met a sloth, many monkeys, beautiful birds … on site!
