A well overdue review of this fantastic hotel for our 6th stay there last July (24). We simply keep returning to the Shandrani as it ticks so many boxes for us. The location is perfect as it's near our family and visiting them is a major important part of our holiday. Then there are the good size rooms, facilities well laid out and spread over the grounds, with the different beaches, there's something for everyone. The only negative would be the lack of a heated pool. Whilst it still feels warm for us in Mauritian winter, the water can be a bit cold in the pools specially. Hopefully this is going to be addressed in the current renovation works. As we have mentioned in previous reviews, the best asset of the Shandrani is the amazing staff. Whilst we cannot list them all (unless Rico shares the full staff list with us ;-)) we can certainly thank the ones who we interacted with the most over the years we have been visiting. Management / Reception - Christian, Ved, Isabelle, Iqbal, Mahdevi. The team does their best to accomodate our little room requests and ensure our stay is as comfortable as possible. Hats off to them for this specially when the hotel is busy. Porters - Vishal, Sachin, Thierry, Gyandev, Ricardo, Sakir, Sanjay. The guys are so helpful with our heavy luggages (and light ones which they wouldn't even let us carry!) and all the trips back and forth on the minicar to and from our room. Boathouse - Oliver and Ashvind from the boathouse who are always setting us up with the usual pedalots, glass bottom, and other water activities we want to try. Restaurants - The food is always amazing at the restaurants and on top of this the service from the following people makes the experience even more special! Nawsheen for organising our restaurant bookings. Dassoo, Rasheed, Sylendra, Jean Noel, Raj, Girish, Denis, Sasitanand, Laurianne, Anup, Ellectra, Sabitree, Dorisse, Natasha, Bashir, Rachel, Joshica who always accomodate our requests, specially for our kids so they always had the best meals. We are sad that we won't be able to stay there this year as the hotel is closed for renovation. Poor timing from the Beachcomer management regarding this closure and caused us undue stress. Whilst being relocated to the Dinarobin would have been good for most guests, due to our special circumstances this was not going to work out. Hopefuly after all the arrangements made with the Beachcomber management our next stay at the Shandrani will be as memorable as always.
