Spark by Hilton Phoenix East Mesa

We stayed in a one King Bed Suite for five nights. It was a very nice room, with a comfortable bed. The hotel is on Power Road, which I found to be very convenient to getting around the Phoenix area. During our stay, we explored Mesa, Gilbert, Queen Creek, and Phoenix. The breakfast was pretty good. Every day, there was eggs, a meat, and biscuits and gravy for hot foods. And, of course, the "usual," i.e., waffles, yogurts, pastries, some fresh fruits, etc. At this BW, there is an "evening social," from 5:30-7:00 PM. That consists of one free drink (beer or wine) per person, and a dinner plate, e.g., hamburgers, minestrone soup, and spaghetti, while we were there. In the room, there was an information sheet entitled, "What smell is that?" It turns out that approximately 3 miles from the hotel, there is a dairy farm (100s of cows). Clearly, depending on the wind directiono and velocity, you can sometimes smell the farm outside (NEVER inside) the hotel. Interestingly, the farm gives guided tours every day but Sunday and Monday. The occastional smell outside the hotel was never an issue for us. I thought the hotel was very clean, inside and out. The folks there were very nice and helpful. We'd definitely stay there again on any future visit to the Phoenix area.

Stayed three nights to visit family having health issues so was gone during the daytime and returned at night. Initially saw the furniture was scratched, scuffed, water and wiping stains…quite worn. The mattress cover would not stay on the bed and had to wrestle with that each night. Last day there waiting for plane I opened up the curtains…and wished I hadn’t. That’s when I saw the accumulation of dust balls and bits of trash under the headboard area, obviously not vacuumed for a long time. Under the platforms of the bed was trash, candy, and stuff that didn’t belong there had it been vacuumed. Behind the corner chair, the lamp wouldn’t come on, I looked behind the chair and saw it was unplugged and lying in dust and trash, so I let it be. Also noticed the mattress was stained as the mattress cover had come off… again. Manager was informed and inspected it with cleaning supervisor and said…” they must have missed that”. The tub was also not clean looking and needed caulked in the corners. On the positive side, staff was friendly, breakfasts were great, shuttle drivers fantastic, great location….just dropped the ball on room cleanliness. Corporate was notified and as of two weeks later no one has reached out to say they received the complaint or to even to say sorry. Had I taken the time to look around and opened the curtains during daylight, I may have seen this sooner and probably gone elsewhere. I don’t want anything other than an acknowledgement from someone that a complaint was received and that they will strive to do better in the future.

Best Western is one of those chains that you never quite know what to expect. Some are fantastic, some are frightening. This one is really pretty nice. Rooms are large and comfortable. It is very clean. There aren't enough power outlets convenient to either desk or bedside. The hallways are oddly lit by flourescent lighting. Makes it look like a hospital. Air conditioner was noisy. Still, great hotel very very close to Mesa Williams Gateway.

At first glance the hotel looks very nice on the outside and the lobby is nicely decorated. We checked in late (around 8:00 pm) and the person working at the desk seemed upset that we disturbed her from her math homework. The room was very disappointing, however, it did have some nice aspects - the ceilings were tall, the tub was large, and it had a microwave. The following are the reasons I’m giving this hotel only 3 stars - the room was dimly lit and most of the bulbs were glaring florescent bulbs, the towels were small and scratchy, the furniture was cheap and sparse, and the bathroom was very small. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stayed here for 4 nights while our home was remolded from flooding and it was great . Super affordable , breakfast was great , clean quiet room , housekeepers were super friendly and did a great job ! Every bit of checking in to checking out and daily life in between was wonderful ! Housekeepers "got it " , saw I had a clan of kids and always left extra towels ( daily swimming in the cold wonderful pool and showers for 6 people) extra cups , didn't "super clean " our room , I mean with 5 kids ...they appropriately and perfectly did what was needed . Even on the weekend it wasn't loud , we were able to have our sleep schedule and sleep from 8p to 7am without disturbance. Highly recommend it and will to all incoming friends and family . Thank you !

We spent 3 days at this property. EVERY day the elevator was broken. We had to walk up 3 flights of stairs. We had to walk down 3 flights of stairs. Anytime I had a load to carry up or down the staff was there to assist me. The staff was cheerful and always ready to help. The beds were great, and the property was clean.
