This was an absolutely fantastic afternoon at Bickleigh Castle. The tour started at 2.30 led by David who was well informed and easy to listen to. The Castle history is very interesting and it boasts one of the oldest chapels in the county. The tour was followed by a delicious enormous scone with jam and cream and a pot of tea. The owner Sarah was always around and greeted us like friends. She even sat with us and also enjoyed a scone. I would highly recommend a visit but It would need to be on a Thursday as that is tour day.

This is a very different and delightful place to stay offering quaint historical charm and comfortable rooms. We stayed in a double room which was spacious and had wonderful views. The Host, Sarah, does not suffer fools gladly but is friendly non the less and a font of knowledge. You will be looked after ! Not an ultra modern sterile Hotel its appeal is its charm and location - think shabby chic !

We visited on one of the Castle Open Days, arriving at 1230, planning a self-guide tour and tea afterwards. In fact we started off with a delicious cream tea followed by a wonderful tour of this fabulous castle. It is completely different from normal "commercial" venues in that it is much more rustic and genuine. A fantastic guide was on hand who was only too pleased to give us a wealth of interesting informaion. The chapel is gorgeous (Saxon) and it is all in a beautiful peaceful setting. Owner, Sarah, was a delight to talk to as we were leaving. We hugely enjoyed this Historic Houses property which is run with real love and enthusiasm.

Thank you to the owner, Sarah for a wonderful evening, sat in the grounds chatting a drinking. A much needed down time after a sad day! On arrival you will receive a warm and relaxed welcome by lovely staff. I would highly recommend a stay here and I’m sure we will return if in the area again. Thank you.

Stayed in the Bridal room (the only room in the castle ) for a breakaway of three nights. It was lovely. Beautiful garden, lovely environment, welcoming hosts and staff. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. For anyone who would like to indulge in history and have a restful getaway in the countryside, this IS the place! Eddy & Syl.

Stayed here for 50th Birthday treat, and wow, it didn't disappoint. It was so much better than I expected and more. Sarah and her team were amazing, nothing was to much trouble, rooms were lovely, the veiws were stunning. We even had a personal tour of the castle and chaple by Wendy, which was fantastic. Can't wait to visit again, hopefully in the summer, so we can see this amazing place at its full potential. Thank you all for the most amazing time Best birthday ever x

Bickleigh Castle is a beautiful place. I had the pleasure of being hosted here for a wedding this weekend. The staff are very friendly and approachable. The grounds themselves are beautiful, with stunning buildings, lawn area (with croquet), tennis court and court yard. The venue are amazing at hosting, the food was on point, the decorations were fit for a princess and for myself the violinist playing modern songs meant my Bridgerton dreams were granted. The room were spacious, ours had an on-suite bathroom, hot drinks making facilities and TV. You can get appliances such as irons also at reception, although it would be great for them to be available in the rooms themselves. The beds are very comfortable with lovely soft bedding, full pillows and adjustable heating with the radiators. For weddings, I cannot recommend this place enough, our whole family and friends stayed on site and we had all buildings and the castle segment to ourselves. We were treated with respect and hospitality, and had the best time. There is plenty of room for wedding breakfasts, room for children to play and space to enjoy the sunshine and a dance floor with a bar. The staff are always available to help and to chat to, with this being said you had freedom to roam and play, it was an unforgettable weekend. Staying over two nights gave our families chance to get to know each other and make amazing memories. Thank you to all who made our stay special!
