Travelodge Middlesbrough

After reading the reviews I was quite nervous about our upcoming stay. However we enjoyed our stay. Adele on reception was friendly and professional on checking us in. We stayed in room 217 on 21/6/25, the room was clean but so warm, it was the hottest day of the year so far. Adele kindly give us a fan to use in the room but it was still dreadfully hot. The room and bathroom was clean. Service in the bar was quick and efficient- thanks again Adele. Not much sleep was obtained due to the heat and 2 drunk men below shouting at 3-4 am. The breakfast the next morning was nice and plentiful. All staff were really nice and a credit to the hotel.

The hotel has no air-conditioning and the room temperature is double of the outside temperature. During my stay the outside temperature was around 20°C but the room was almost 40°C which is unbearable to sleep. Neither my children nor I got any sleep at all. You would think that at least family rooms with children should be kept cool. Do not go if you value your sleep.

UPDATED REVIEW AFTER TELEPHONE CALLS TODAY Got locked out of my room for 12.5 hours due to due to staff incorrectly not putting call out in - lock failed, had ALL my stuff & medications in it which I could not take on time. Was told by person on desk that "management will call you when they are in in the morning to arrange a full refund for your stay" This happened at @1000 Sunday 15th & finally got into my room @2240 to clear my room & move to another hotel down the road Was assured of a call from Management on 16-06-25 to discuss & arrange refund, had no calls by 1600 so tried to ring branch, calls went unanswered - took over 30 minutes for someone to answer only to become very angry & accused of being rude & over talking when simply asking for an escalation of process due to no calls from management & could not get a word in edgeways which resulted in them putting the phone down on me - Thankfully our calls are recorded which will prove no shouting OR being rude, was simply asking why someone had not called me & what the procedure is for escalating the complaint. As you get blocked here for "naming" people I'd like Travelodge to know that this branch had a person on @1630 today that was probably one of the rudest & shouty people I've had in a hotel Found number for head office but they go home at 1630, so had to resort to filling in an online form instead. Place is understaffed (only 1 member on at any time this has been repeated over 2 days of staying here, kitchen and bar shut due to “issues”, key card keeps locking out and extremely noisy. Had to move to another hotel due to noise at night-time there seems to be no soundproofing at all and you can hear everything. Am a light sleeper but have never had this much noise in a long time. Rooms a mess not very clean at all and bar furniture needs replacing as worn out. Needs some serious works doing to make this even remotely decent. Other hotels local to this would suggest going there

Samantha was brilliant, very helpful on reception hotel is lovely and clean also has a bar cafe which is very warm and welcoming service is really spot on would recommend to all guests visiting the area room was big and also very clean thanks again

the beds were comfortable, the room was laid out nicely, the taps had a nice pressure and temperature control. the staff were very kind and explained everything in an easibly understandable way and made us feel very welcomed. the person that got us booked in was Amy, she was kind and helped us with everything we needed and got us booked into the room very quickly after we got to the building.
