"The B&B owner is truly amazing and incredibly kind. He designed and decorated the B&B himself, giving it a unique style. It's clean and hygienic, and I stayed for two nights but didn't want to leave. Coming to this B&B feels like coming home, and the owner treats us like family, providing thoughtful and considerate service to every guest. What touched me most was that the owner actually woke up at 4:30 AM to take me to the riverside to try and catch the aurora. Even though we didn't see it, he had no complaints and went back to the B&B to catch up on sleep. On the way back, I realized I had already found the 'light' – the radiance that Boss Gao himself emanates. He's humorous, interesting, and knowledgeable, always striving to meet guests' needs. Honestly, I've never met a business owner like him. He's welcoming and accommodating to everyone who stays here. Everyone must come and experience this place! 👍👍👍"

"I struck gold! I checked into a newly opened hotel on the banks of the Heilongjiang River, just across from Russia. It was fully equipped and had a super comfortable king-size bed. "For this trip to the Far North, I planned everything myself. I snagged train tickets for the Harbin-Mohe round trip 15 days in advance – if you can't get them, just wait on the standby list until they become available. When choosing accommodation, my eye was immediately drawn to this newly opened guesthouse. A little hesitant, I called the owner before booking. This 80s-born owner (referring to someone born in the 1980s) helped us arrange a chartered car and guide, and also gave us some crucial tips. He was so friendly that I immediately took his advice to skip staying in Beihong Village and booked three nights here instead. We were incredibly lucky; we got a notification on the 6th that the aurora's KP index would be 6-7 on the evening of the 9th. Even though it had snowed earlier, he told us to be on standby that night and then drove our group out to chase the aurora, stargaze, see the extreme cold light pillars, and even provided props for us to play with and take photos. The guesthouse is right by the river, and they offer free 'splashing water into ice' (don't waste 10 yuan paying others for this!). The owner even tells you the best times to go out and try it. I missed the first day's windless sunrise; after breakfast, I went upstairs, and it was already snowing [crying emoji]. I tried again today, but unfortunately, it was very windy, which reduced the effect. Regarding the chartered driver, it depends on how many people you have. If you want to save time and have a better experience, I recommend booking a private car. Find a local guide to handle all the pick-ups and drop-offs – it'll also save you money. In the extreme cold of minus 30 degrees, dragging luggage around everywhere felt like quite a test of courage."

One step through the door and the wife hugged me like a long-lost littermate. Tail wagging commenced immediately. 🐾 If warmth could melt Mohe’s cold, this household would be climate change. My downstairs room? Small. A little dim. Chosen for my sister’s convenience rather than my royal canine standards. But here’s the thing — when hospitality is this generous, the light comes from the people. I ate every meal at their café not out of laziness, but loyalty. Why brave the Arctic for repetitive food when home-style comfort is already waiting with a bowl and a smile? Youran lives up to its name: unforced, gentle, human. It felt less like a hotel and more like visiting relatives who keep refilling your bowl because you look “too thin.” This became the perfect launchpad for my Harbin expedition, three nights of settling in, warming up, and learning that charm travels better than luxury. Now, the honest bone (every good dog buries one): I’d give this a 4.1 stars if decimals existed. Since they don’t, here’s a conditional 5-star — contingent on tighter cleanliness under beds, chairs, and in the toilet. I raised this directly with the boss because I’d happily recommend this boutique stay to my pack… once the floors behave. All in, Mohe Youran Mountain Residence didn’t just host me — they claimed me. And this dog? "An excellent two-night stay at this hotel. The room was clean, modern and well-heated for the winter. It was a welcoming place to return to after a long day. However the location is slightly away from the center and bus stop (I am sure you can ask them to pick you up for free). But if you don’t mind walking like I do, you will appreciate this place for its general space and vicinity. The reception is happy to provide you with a thermos and the pitcher for you to 泼水成冰。 there is no need to pay for this beautiful experience. I did it 7 times on my own 🤣."

"It's a 6 month old hotel, still WIP, so a little noisy from early in the morning 6am+ Hotel is about 20 mins walk to the main city! Hotel has a nice woody smell. 小老板 at the corner is a man of a few words, didn't even share about breakfast location info until we asked much later on the second trip back to the corner. Breakfast is basic with millet porridge and some dishes. Hotel does not have food or snack, so we actually went to the opposite smaller hotel where they serve beer and snack at ground level 😅 Best part is when 小老板 drove to the city to fetch us back to the hotel after supper! He responded with 等我 👏"
