We originally booked a standard room with a sea view, but having checked in to the hotel, we were disappointed to see that the balconies on standard rooms are very small, the table and two chairs filled the entire space. We were able to upgrade to a premium room at an extra cost, which as well as being slightly larger came with an enormous balcony, containing a table, two chairs and two sun loungers, with room to spare! We considered the additional 20 Euros a night well worth the extra space. We had a couple of issues with our room, the safe wouldn’t open and the phone to reception didn’t work, but these were dealt with promptly when we asked. Hotel wifi was good. The premium room had a fridge, kettle and cups, but no teabags or milk. The nearest supermarket we found was Lidl in Garrucha, a 20 minute walk, or 5 minutes by car. The hotel itself was quite quiet. In early April, there were no daytime activities organised by the hotel and only evening entertainment on a couple of nights. This was fine for us though. We hired a car from the airport to explore the area. There is a free car park attached to the hotel and if full, plenty of on-road parking. We were all inclusive, and although the drinks included in that package were limited, there was always something we could choose. The food was excellent. We really enjoyed our meals in the restaurant, plenty of choice and good quality items. The staff in the bars and restaurant were all very kind and helpful. The hotel is situated near the seafront, with walks to Garrucha, Mojacar Playa centre, or if you don’t mind the uphill walk, about 50 minutes to Mojacar Pueblo. There are lots of flies in the area though, we got bittern several times, so if you’re susceptible to bites, pack some bite cream! We enjoyed our week here – lovely sunny weather, gorgeous surroundings and great food. It was a shame to go home!
